I just read this on yahoo. That'll make them cost 46 cents. It wont be long till they'll be 50 cents if they keep going up.

It is a proposed change it has not been approved yet. Here is the link on the USPS's website.

I really don't care. Actually, I kind of wish they WOULD just do the big jump to 50 cents and put an end to the raising for a while. But we only send like 1 stamped letter a month so maybe if I sent lots of them I might care more.

They should cut out Saturday deliveries. What I don't understand is how they can't turn a profit when UPS & Fed-Ex can.
Our mailman is on vacation for the entire month of July. That is not counting the week he took in May & the week he took in June.

We don't turn a profit like them because they are not required to make the enormous payments into the retirement fund. I believe I read that it is somewhere around 750 billion that has been paid into it since the 70's. Your carrier had to have saved that leave or couldn't use it last year. You can only carry over so much annual leave. Or it could have been sick leave, and he was out on medical. We have several people in our office that have saved thousands of hours of sick leave.

In my opinion they need to cut out a day during the week, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Lots of business needs to be taken care of during the week, including doctor appointments. If they had a day off during the week for appointments and such, they wouldnt need to take personal days.

I agree freeby, I use to find it odd that my mom takes off tuesdays and wednesdays for her days off, instead of the usual saturday and sunday weekend for her work, but this is how she gets "stuff" taken care of so she doesn't have to take off of work for anything. I think it's a good idea if it fits into your RL schedule (kids etc..).

I don't use that much stamps anymore, and when I do it's only aroun 2-5, and then of course more during the christmas holidays. But yes, it is quit expensive if it would be 50 cents per stamp for people that use alot of them.

I'm in the minority here, but personally I think pocket change to send something across the country is a pretty great deal.

If you're sending one thing, yes it is. Compare it to taking it yourself, yes it is. Compare it to buying a roll of stamps at a time, no its not.
