My trip to the liquor store

A lot of people here know that I am a recovering alcoholic. But today I went to a liquor store! My neighbor has been doing some work around my house, and charging far less than someone else. So I decided to treat him to a six pack of beer.

So I go into the liquor store, feeling as comfortable as a Baptist at a Swingers Convention. It was a store that had a lot of special brands of beer. If I treat someone to a six pack, I don't give Budwesier. (I may be an alcoholic but I have standards)

I select Sam Adams Summer Ale. I asked the clerk if this was a popular brand of beer. And adding with unnecessary empathatis (sp) "I don't drink" like she cared. lol I leave the store, hoping none of my fellow alcoholics see me! (They would probably think that I am getting a six pack for a friend)

I always feel the need to say "Oh, its not for ME..." when I go to the liquor store and buy Ned's beer. Funny how that works, huh?

Congratulations, my nekkie friend, on your continued sobriety!

I got my former boss a 12 pack of Sam Adams as a going away gift and he really liked it. I told him that I hoped that it was a good beer because I didn't drink beer, that I was a margarita girl.

Its funny how we go out of the way to say the beer is not for ourselves! The clerks don't care and they probably have heard/seen it all. Besides, who cares what a liquor store clerk thinks? I didn't worry about that when I drank, so why worry about it now?

    I gotta wonder about myself

Never argue with an idiot. It will bring you down to his level and he’ll win because of experience.

HIGH 5's! Good for you! I only wish my EX would sober-up; not for me b/c I couldn't care a rat's behind if he ever stops. I do wish he would so he might try to re-build a realtionship with our boys. They are adults now & chose to remove him from their lives until he gets sober.
Me, I seldom ever drink but I am kind of craving sangria so one of these days I might stop in the liquoir store to buy a very small bottle. Hey one drink & I'm tipsy!
