The machine embroidery thread is stronger. I would think that you could use it but I don't think I would. Don't ask me why I wouldn't use it, I don't know why.

No. Dont. It is different. You need to go to Micheal's or Hobby Lobby and get some Coats Embroidery Floss. It comes in skeins of so many yards of a 6 thread twist. Most hand embroidery is done with 2 or 3 strands(threads) through a needle at a time. Machine embroidery thread is 2 teeeeeensy strands twisted together for strength because the machines go at such a high speed. When you cut a length, the thread twists and almost knots itself. There are different weights of machine embroidery thread, but even the heavy threads arent as pretty when used by hand instead of with the machine.
And, how do I know this? I have hand embroidered as far back as I can remember and I was the manager of the Embroidery Department of a public safety uniforms store for over 6 yrs.
