what kind of hours do you work?

    I was just wondering.

I have been applying for jobs and trying to get one. The latest I applied for is for 8:15 am- 5:15 pm. It is apprx. 30 minute drive to and from, so if I got it, it would put me home about 6 everyday. I would be able to bring my son (it's a daycare), but makes me sad because I have 2 other kids, and I won't be able to see them and spend time with them like I do now and want to. Especially since summer break from school is coming up.

What about you? Do your job hours get you upset because it doesn't allow you to spend the time you want with your family?

    That's what working full time means. My current hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. I get up at 4:30 a.m. to catch a 6 am train. I don't get home until 6 p.m.!

Luckily my kids are grown...but I have always had a career and worked full-time. I have been fortunate to have caring people care for my children. But, my 'off' hours has always been for my family...spending time with them and doing things together.

But, it isn't easy. I can't say that I did either one (career/mothering) exceptionally well!! I did an adequate job but didn't excel at either. I purposedly refused career opportunities which would have taken me from my family.

However, by the grace of God, my children are both grown, wonderful adults with families of their own. We are all close...so I guess I didn't screw it up too much.

If you can work reduced hours so you spend more time with your family...then absolutely do it. However, if your family needs you to work full time outside the home, then it is what it is. It will be harder because it is tiring...but you can do it.
Never argue with an idiot. It will bring you down to his level and he’ll win because of experience.

I work 9am to 6pm mon thru friday.

If we have a show, I work open to close (usually 8am to 10pm). during the fair I work 18+ hours a day for two weeks.

My husband is home for the kids, so I don't feel as guilty for not being there during our busy season.

There are times where you gotta do what you gotta do! Just keep in mind that the quality of time you spend with your kids is important too!

yeah, just makes me sad, I've been fortunate to enjoy the luxury (yes, it is a luxury) to stay home with my children. I did work once for 3 years, but was home by 5, and didn't go in untill 10.

My schedule is different every day. We have 4 shifts, 7:30-3, 8-4:30, 9:30-5:30 and 12-7. I am kind of lucky though, because I write the schedule for all the employee's, so I get to schedule myself around my daughters sport games, school performances, etc.

That's cheating!! LOL, But I would do the same thing.

My normal hours are 5AM-1PM or 6AM-2:30PM.

I work 11P till 7:30A and I hate it. Our hours used to be 10P till 6:30A and it really worked out nice for me. We got a new boss with a bad attitude and he changed everything around, including our off days.

I work 6am-6pm, 4 days on, 4 days off. It is LOVELY! Sophie stays with my mom during the week when I work and mom puts her on and off the bus. I pick her up when I get off and we spend 2-2 1/2 hrs together doing homework, getting her bath, eating supper......then right at bedtime I take her to mom's. Then, on my 4 days off, we spend LOTS of time together. The worst part is that I never have the same days off.....like this week I work Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, then I am off Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.....Next week I will work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.....and so forth. But, I get two weeks vacation a year.......So when I take my vacation, I get my first 4 days off like I normally do, then the 4 days off I am supposed to work, then the 4 days off I am normally off.......so for a weeks vacation, I get 12 days of running......and I can do that TWICE a year.....plus my 4 personal days.

The job I had before this one.......Oy vey! I worked long hours and was never home. When I was, I was too tired to be a good mommy.

I work 8 to 5 Tuesday through Friday and Saturday 8 to 5 or 8 to 6 or 10 to 8 depending on the season. I absolutely hate having to work every Saturday, but the people I work for are absolutely amazing about letting me off for my kids school events or scouts or baseball. The resort manager is all about families and taking care of them. My kids hate it when I'm working on Saturday, but they know that if it's really important, I can be there for them.

I work from home so I get to see my kiddos all the time! The downside is that I work a LOT of hours which often includes nights and weekends and holidays (like today), but I love it nonetheless!
