Thread: Are Message Boards such as BBF no longer relevant?

There were cliques and it got nasty. Most tried to stay above the fray but too many got very nasty and tried to shut this place down. It came back but a lot of damage was done. BBF is still around because of hippie. This is a good board to find out about those freebies still out there and the reward programs. The discussions are just part of this place and need to be respected. I don't want to see it the way it was with the trolls shutting threads down. They have moved on to harass other boards and that is ok with me.

Are there any mods other than Hippie? Seems she's the only one I see do anything, but then there are a lot of forums on this board, so....

I come here to discuss things that my "real life" friends don't care about or don't have a clue about.
And its nice to get opinions on things that maybe I wouldn't want my "real life" friends to know about.. you know, how they say you'll tell a stranger your deepest darkest secrets, but won't tell your best friend.

And it's also true what Janelle said (some of it) members here have taken up at other boards just to come here, C/P posts and then proceed to rip the post and the poster apart in the secrecy of their own boards. Now, I'm all for speaking your mind (which I have done here plenty of times)....but seriously, a person has way too much time on their hands to stoop to doing that. Maybe they think they look like a bad as$ or something, maybe they like to have other people who are just as self riotous as they are as their followers, but really at the end of the day, do any of us give a fuuck what those people think or say? I don't because at the end of the day, my life is my life and people hiding behind a computer screen don't affect my "real" life. And besides at the end of the day, I turn my computer to sleep mode. Just sayin.

ETA: I do have friends that I made here that I talk to offline.

I do have a private place where anyone can say anything. But it's hardly ever about here, it's mostly IRL stuff. I go to different places for different needs, 1 place for debates, one for freebies/friendship/one for personal things that I don't feel comfortable posting for 50,000 strangers to see etc.

Janelle, I think Katt and Mom2jal were the ones who kept this place going after all the crap and the whole place was going to hell. They deserve the credit for that, not me. I wasn't a mod until after that.

The other mods are around, they mostly just do their 'mod-thang' and don't post much. I'm the blabber mouth.

Yes, but from here it is a tiny amount, always has been. Most of the affiliate money is made from people clicking/buying from the deals on the main site, not the forums.

Also, the traffic here is pretty good right now, maybe not posts in the these OT forums, but the Deals/Freebie etc and traffic to the frontpage is even up some. Everyone's looking for a deal right now. The posters on these forum only make up a small amount of the total visitors/members.

I still love the message boards. So many more people and opinions to see. Plus I don't have fb, yet, and I am going to get one, soon, probably, sometime in the future. LMAO
