Got ours today. Hubby says it's even wrong. The census is not taken so states will get more funding, it's for voting districts. They need to know how many people are in each state so they can see how many congressmen should be elected for the amount of the people in that area. That is the primary purpose, the other purpose is minor.

Can we trust them when they don't know what they are doing? geesh.

I got one as well, thought it was stupid. They could have sent that letter with the next one.

Now I have a question, how much do we legally have to tell them. If I remember correctly, they ask for more than just how many people live at the address.

Yep, my sister is one of those doing the census, she's making $11.00 an hour plus milage.

accurate count of residents can do for your community. Better infrastructure. More services. A brighter tomorrow for everyone. In fact, the information the census collects helps to determine how more than $400 billion dollars of federal funding each year is spent on infrastructure and services like:

    •Hospitals
    •Job training centers
    •Schools
    •Senior centers
•Bridges, tunnels and other-public works projects
    •Emergency services
    Participation isn't just important—it's mandatory.

    Yes, it is important.

I think maybe hubby is a little off... the money is pretty important... or it is here anyways... we have been SLAMMED with commercials on tv, radio and paper about how the city needs more money so it's very important that we all fill out the census. That money is especially important since the population in my county has more than quadrupled since the last census. We need the hospitals... not so much the schools... but we have no homeless shelters, lots of road projects going on. This isn't just about seats in congress for us.
