Yes, it's a free country, but there are also signs posted at most theaters that says no outside food or drink which would make it illegal to bring stuff in!
On that note, yes I do! .. Just seen When In Rome tonite and brought in my own candy and pop. Sometimes I will by popcorn for the kids and occasionally pop there, but we always bring our own candy in .. I am not paying the crazy prices they ask!

It doesn't make it illegal. You aren't going to go to jail for it. You may be asked to leave though!

Every now and again I'll get the popcorn b/c I love it. Most times tho I take in my own. Some theaters out here allow outside food and drink. We have a drive in as well and I love going, so cheap, can take whatever you want and see two movies for a lot less than one at a reg theater, of course my guy isn't a fan he sucks! lol

I can save more when I bring my own foods at movie houses.

I'll bring my own can of soda pop & candy, but buying the popcorn is a must!

my son used to work at a theater and he said that the prices for all that stuff was ridicously marked up.

Well yea, it's obvious it doesn't cost them anywhere near $4 for that small bag of popcorn. Theaters make hardly anything off of the price of tickets - it's the concessions that allow them to make a profit.

I very rarely go to the movies. I think the last movie I saw at a theater was Titanic-seriously! LOL However, I have brought in my own snacks. My ex BIL would bring in EVERYTHING-HUGE bags of popcorn, pop, candy. He would sneak it his coat pockets. I swear he bought the coat because it had enough pockets to hold all the stuff. LOL The only time he got "caught" they just asked him to get rid of his food and they let him run out and put it in his car.

All of my purses are huge so anytime we go to the movies we always hit the Dollar Tree first! I fill up with candy and get each of us a bottled soda, the only thing we pay for is popcorn and the tickets...to me, that is enough. The theater has a huge markup on popcorn so they have more than made their money. I just make sure I have my wallet in hand while we are paying for tix, so I don't have to fumble through all the snacks to try to find it

Yes, it is illegal .. it's one of their rules .. just like having a no smoking sign posted .. if you get caught smoking they can either throw you out, or call the police if they choose!
Just cause we live in a free country doesn't mean we can do whatever the hell we want!

No, it is not "illegal". It is against company policy and they can ask you to get rid of it or leave. If you refuse they may THEN call the police because you are being disruptive, which is infact illegal. A no smoking city wide ORDINANCE would make that illegal, but a sign in an establishment saying no outside food or drink is NOT a law and therefore NOT illegal. Wrong to do? Yes. Illegal? NO.

But you already admitted that you do sneak in snacks... so apparently, especially since you believe it is illegal... you pretty much think it DOES mean you can do whatever the hell you want!

For the record... no, I have NEVER snuck anything into the movies. We like the movie theatre popcorn when we go to a regular one and the price of the drinks comes w/ the price of going out. But we usually go to a dinner theatre and buy dinner and dessert w/ our movie (which is like twice a year, if even that).. don't even have popcorn.
