Another freecycle shameless (IMO) want....
Monday, August 17, 2009 9:55 AM
Hello all, I am wondering if anyone has 4 tickets to get into Adventureland
free. We decided that at age 6 and 8 our kids were old enough to go to the State
fair, with out running off or getting lost, and being able to remember and enjoy
the things we saw. . However, were we surprised at the cost of the midway. Holly
COW! Plus the rides did not look real safe. So we promised them this year that
we would take them to adventureland. We have been waiting to go all summer to
save for our trip. but alas.. summer is over and school starts on thursday. we
spent our entry money (Times two) on school registration.
We would like to go tuesday..yes tomorrow. has anyone recieved tickets from
their work, or family that they will not be able to use?
We would be so grateful!
Thank you
Angie
this is my thought IF you promised your kids why didn't you save all summer TO take them. Who in the right mind would expect tickets today - for FREE?
Because now if you can't come thru the kids will be heartbroken....

Some parents just don't think when they make promises...
Let my haters be my motivators!

Maybe she'll get lucky. My dad works at Harley and every year he get's tickets to Hershey park for all the kids for free but we never go so he gives them to people that can't afford to take there kids. But I would NEVER make a promise to my kids I know I can not keep!

um yea! why in the world would you promise your kids (and at that age they DO remember!) something you cant fulfill? I'm still working on our family vaca for next month, i gave options, but didnt promise!

I have 6 txts BUT they will not be offered. They shouldn't have told the kids that they would take them. We can pay an extra 5 bucks next year and they will take them (Adventureland). SO not worth giving them away, with 6 kids and 10 gdkids
Blessed are the cracked: for it is they who let in the light

after school reg fees they can't afford to go? does this mean they can afford private school?

Just because they SAID they promised their kids something, doesn't mean they really did. <gag mode on> But it sure will garner more sympathy if people think their poor, sad, so terribly unfortunate children just might have to do without free tickets! </gag mode off>
People are so ballsy and bold anymore, I about don't trust anyone except people I already know. I think when parents started teaching their children "It never hurts to ask!" they forgot to teach them what "boundaries of decency" mean, too.

I hate freecycle. In our area it's more like begcycle. We have people ask for cars (running only, I don't want to work on one), a camper (or an RV, that would be OK too) and a house (I'd love one with a yard for the kids).
Half the time when I see one of those stupid posts asking "does anyone know where I can find a canning pot?" I want to reply "Have you tried WalMart?"

I would never ask for free tickets like that. As for being able to afford private school they may go to public school. We live in Illinois and we have to pay for registration and book fees here. At the high school I pay 72.00 reg plus book fees and grade school I pay 55.00 book fee plus 50.00 activity fees and these are public schools.
Mom Mom I hear this all day. Calgon take me away.

havn't you ever been in a situation where you said you were going to do something, or try to do something for your kids...... and you just couldn't come through financially for them because "lifes circumstances" came in the way, you know, house payment, utililties, food, car payment etc. etc. etc..... that doesn't mean that you still don't want to fulfill to your children what you would like to do for them. I know sometimes I tell my kids, (example), hey, where gonna go to incredible pizza at the end of the month... well, the end of the month gets here, umm, maybe I had an unexpected thing happen, like the car breaking down, had to fix it.......... It's called life, sometimes we do as parents tell our kids we are, or we want to do something for them, and we just can't come through........ and as a parent, we feel like schit because we can't.
BUT, I would not advertise something like that on freecycle!!!! Maybe ask around or something. But then again, sometimes half the people on freecycle seem like greedy beggars

Wow I thought that taxes paid for those things!
Of course if the school budget keeps getting cut we may be headed in that direction too!
