My kids won't eat it so if I do make it I make a midsized pan for myself and dh. I have to remember to make some when it gets chilly out. Oh and I make mine out of real mashed potatoes. I cannot stand instant *gAg

I never liked it. Then I had it an an Irish pub in town here. OMG it was divine! DH had gone there with some guys from work before we got here. I didn't order it but I had some of his. It was wonderful. It was in a thick dark gravy and had peas, carrots, and onion in it.
Now I'm hungry for some more. Our furniture is supposed to get here in the next few days. Maybe after a hard day of watching the movers unpack we'll go out there again.

I just brown hamburger, strain the grease off and mix either Heinz brown gravy in it or make my own. Put in pan the cover the top with mashed taters and bake till the taters are browned some. I like onion in it but my daughter won't eat onion.

I love it. I brown hamburger and drain it. I put it in the bottom of casserole dish. I mix together 1 can of creamed corn and 1 can of regular and add that to the casserole on top of the hamburger. I top that with mashed potatoes. (I mash them myself, I don't care for instant) I put a couple pats of butter on top of that and sprinkle with paprika and bake for 30 minutes at 375.
ETA...I forgot to add that I fry a sliced onion up with the hamburger and a clove of garlic.

I love it but instead of using ground beef I cook a lean roast until it's ready to fall apart and then cut up the meat. I like to put in lots of onions, celery, carrots and green beans and make my own gravy and mashed potatoes.
I like to put a little bit of butter on top of the potatoes and then sprinkle a little bit of grated cheese on top.
I've also made this with boneless skinless chicken breast that I brown down and then cook till it's tender. I do make a country style gravy with this.
Both ways are probably fattening but we don't have it very often.

I haven't made this in a while....now I am going to have to make it lol I brown hamburger with onion and garlic. I drain and rinse it. I then layer it in a pan, put corn over it then cover it with mashed taters. Bake it for about 30 min. simple but that is the only way family will eat it.

hate to keep asking the questions, but.....
What quantity of mashed potatoes (9x13 pan) and do you prepare them as you were going to eat them?
Is there an advantage to putting them both on the top and bottom?
Those that use gravy....do you mix the gravy in with the meat?
For the veggies; is canned the best or is frozen OK too?
thanks
