None of the above. It is something to be concerned about, but why panic? What good will that do?

I am wary, and keeping an eye on things. I will probably be in crowded places less for a while until I see how things are going but I am far from freaking.

I think people lose common sense when they hear things like this. Its just like bird flu or mad cow disease. Alot of people were convinced they were going to get it. LOL
My dh's boss freaks out about schit like that. If you use common sense and wash your hands alot and don't touch common objects (like using a paper towel to touch door handles) its no different than the common cold or average yearly strain of flu.

As long as they don't have lots of cases here where I live I'm wary but not freaked out. Now if it gets really bad here I'll definitely be scared especially for my husband.

We have gotten our clinic prepared as far as getting supplies from the CDC/Health Dept, and posted information for patients. The doctor's have all studied up on it and talked with the local health dept as for what to look for, who to report to, where to send labs, etc. However with that being said we all agree that it is just another form of the flu and will come and go like every other flu virus does every year.

I think it's another way to scare people. I also believe it's man made, a new strain didn't just pop out of no where.

Swine flu is what killed so many after WWI. Masses of servicemen crammmed in ships, airplanes going to their war torn homes (except US), where clean water was not plentiful, lack of food and medicine helped the flu take hold. It started the same way, sporatic, and few infected, then months later, BAMM! Massive outbreak. Am I concerned a bit, but am more fearful as to what will be later this year. That being said, I bet many are working on a vaccine as I type this.

I do worry for my son as he works in a hospital school. So that is 2 strikes. He also plays rugby and that is draining on his system. I fear one of the kids will pick it up at the hospital, then spread it in the classroom and he will be infected after a rugby match while his body is trying to heal all his bumps, bangs and bashes, gashes and cuts.

    none of the above.

    It's a new strain without a vaccine -- yet.

However, just increase the stuff you learned in Kindergarten...wash your hands, cover your mouth, use tissue not your sleeves or hands when sneezing...if you feel sick STAY HOME.

We already all have stockpiles of food, medicines, cleaning supplies ... the only thing that I am really doing any differently now (there are 2 potential cases in our state...one about 60 miles away) is that when I go to the store, I use alcohol pads to wipe down the handles of the shopping cart.

So, we, as CERT members are ready to go...but won't go anywhere until we get a call from our Company Commander.

I think my only heightened concern presently --- is that like any virus strain, it can live on surfaces for 72 hours that have no water on them -- ie: telephones, MONEY (paper and coin), clothing, etc.

Money is a sure fire way to spread something...and as gross as it is, think about how many people hold money in their mouth. (blech!)
