We're Moving to Germany
OMG OMG OMG OMG DH got a solid job offer. It's official. We're moving to Germany. He'll be leaving next month. The boys and I will follow during the summer. OMG OMG OMG OMG I'm so thrilled, excited, nervous, scared, and just plain freaking out!! What an amazing adventure to give the boys! We can do 3 day weekends in Italy, Poland, France, England, Spain, etc, etc, etc. They can see the history they learn about in school. We can ski in the Alps, tour thousand year old castles, attend mass at the Vatican, see things that were built over 2000 years ago. It's amazing. Every time I start to freak out and want to stay here I think about how amazing this is going to be for the boys.
We'll be there for at least 2 years. They are going to pack us and move us including one vehicle. One of DH's best friends is already there (he helped push DH for the job) and they will just carpool together. We'll have full base privledges since DH will be a contractor for the military and working on base. We will have to live off base which, really, is just fine with me. It's simply beautiful over there and I can't wait to immerse myself in the culture. The boys will get DoD schools which is a HUGE relief for me. I already looked into the schools and they seem absolutely wonderful. As a weird coincidence, DS1's English teacher graduated from one of the high schools over there, the very one we hope to get the boys into should we be there that long.
If we love it we may very well stay a while. We are going to move most of our stuff from here and sell DH's car (Anyone want to buy a 2000 Taurus with one very responsible owner that runs great??) We're trying to find a house sitter to help with the mortgage and take care of the place. Sort of a win-win there. I think our lawn guy may be interested. The problem is going to be the cat. She's 14 1/2 yrs old. She's front declawed and never goes outside. She's absolutely wonderful, loving, affectionate, and sweet. But she would never survive the trip. She only eats canned cat food and even then we have to add water and mix it up into cat food soup. She can't really chew. So a long flight plus a 24hr quarrantine period would mean no food for her. Just the stress of all that alone would probably do her in. Hopefully we can find a good home for her.
