I'm a member there also. This is from there site
Q:
I've had several movies lost in the mail recently. What should I do?
A:
The U.S. Postal Service is a reliable and fast way to ship DVDs, but we understand that a DVD may sometimes be lost during shipping through no fault of the customer. So we replace lost movies at no charge. DVDs cannot be removed from the lost status until they are received by our warehouse. If a large number of lost DVD reports are filed for an account, the account will be placed under review and the customer will be notified via email.

I wouldn't give her any money because they are not charging her, nor are they canceling her account over one lost dvd.
If she keeps it up then tell her you want to see the email saying she has to pay for it. Also I probably wouldn't borrow any more of her things lol

We had netflix for quite a while and never had any problems when something got lost in the mail. We certainly didn't get any fees or suspended.

I also use netflix as well as gamefly...never had any problems with either of them and have had one movie lost and one game lost.I was never charged nor was my accounts closed.IMHO your friends story sounds kinda "fishy" just ask her to see the email they sent her maybe even ask to call them and speak them.

Thanks ya'll!
I told her that I would be more than happy to pay for the movie once I saw the email from netflix stating how much it was going to cost. She made up some excuse about how she lost the email and that they had already charged her debit card, and that when it hit her card that it charged overdraft fees on top because there wasn't enough money there. She expects me to pay all of that. But she says that they charged 45$ just for the movie. And I was like no way, I can go to walmart and buy the full version with all the extras for 25$. So at this point I am waiting for her to produce the email from them showing me that they were actually charging her. I am almost thinking that she wants to upgrade to a better plan that what she has and is wanting to use me to pay for that for her.

Yeah, I'm with everyone else, she shouldn't be stuck paying for anything, unless she's "lost" a lot of movies already.
I have lost one movie and they were nice about it, and once the mailman delivered a movie to me in a plastic bag that said that there was some kind of accident and the disc was ruined (it was in about 12 pieces). I called Netflix, told them what happened, and they said no problem, happens a lot and to just send the pieces to them (and the bag from the post office).
I've also kept a movie and I think I paid $25, might've been less.

Have your friend sign into there Netflix acct while your are around. Go to there Queue, if she just got it back it should show it at the top of the page under
Rate Your Recently Watched Moviesif it isn't there in that same box at the bottom right corner you should see 2 links
See and Rate All: Rental Returns Instantly Watched
click on the rental returns if it made it back to them it will show there.
But even if they didn't get it back they wouldn't charge her unless she has a history of reporting lost DVDs then they would probably charge her.
