    Orange baby nose

I remember not that long ago somebody posted pictures and their baby's nose was orange. What causes that? I took some photo's yesterday and the baby's nose was orange. Just curious!

Large amounts of beta carotene in baby foods like carrots, sweet potatoes and squash can cause it. It's not harmful and temporary. As the diet changes it disappears.

Not for sure, but to me it seems like it would be caused from eating a lot of orange foods, such as carrots, sweet potatoes , squash, peaches.

I read somewhere that people who eat a bunch of carrots all the time kind of turn a orange color.

What's really strange is that we have a few patients that eat a lot of beta-carotene rich foods and their breast milk has an orange hue. I get women calling me and freaking out when they see it.

Orange breast milk would freak me out! At least they're getting their veggies ?

There was a lady I worked with who was obsessed with green tea diet pills...she took so many of them that she said that there were parts of her body turning greenish and it was freaking out her boyfriend...not sure if she was telling the truth or not.

When my youngest was a baby, his whole body turned orange. I thought he was jaundiced and hurried him in to his pediatrician. LOL...just as has been said, it was the squash that did it. He loved it. We backed off on it and made sure he got more of the other veggies.

The little girl that I keep was like that when she was little and the mother was feeding her baby food. Now that she is a toddler and eats what she wants its cleared up.

Good to know. I asked her mom if she eats a lot of carrots and she said the baby's favorite foods are carrots and sweet potatoes. So, that makes sense.

Yep this happened to my daughter when she was a baby..loved all the 'orange' veggies. nose, finger and toes turned orange. I thought I was going nuts until the doctor confirmed that she was indeed 'turning orange'

My brother when he found out said "lets feed her a bunch of beets and see if she turns purple!"
