Newbie to Limewire...need help!
DH's 50th birthday is this year and I'm planning a surprise party for him. I want to make a CD of songs that were popular in the year he was born. I just installed Limewire on my computer, but am not sure how to use it. None of the songs that I put in list a license number, is that important? Also, is there a way I can listen before I download a song to be sure it is the one I want? Any other advice to make things easier for me?

I used to use limewire too until I had a lot of problems with it....someone on here suggested ares and I have been using that for over a year now with no problems and it is so much better.
for any song download site if you cant preview the song before downloading try listening to it during the download process if the program allows it(ares does) and if its not the right one cancel the download.

I just went to ares.com and they wanted to charge me. Do you know of any good free ones? I googled it, but don't know which ones to trust.

limewire sucks.
My daughter uses aires, and we have had no problems with our computer since then.

You really can't trust any of them... How many songs are you trying to get? You could try mIRC, but really now a days, I wouldn't trust them either. I know money is tight, but if you don't have access to news groups, I would really spend the 99cents on them.

I dont understand how it tried to charge you...I went to : http://ares.com/ and it says free download, thats what I did and have never been asked to pay for anything....maybe they are asking you to pay for a better version then the free one?
Try this one, I found it on download.com... http://download.cnet.com/Ares-Galaxy...html?tag=mncol

Be very wary of using sites like limewire. They are famous for people getting all sorts of viruses & malware. Also, you could wind up getting into trouble for copywrite infringments. Use iTunes, Walmart, Rapsody or one of the other, less expensive ones to buy your songs.
Ask around also & see what your friends have, maybe borrow some of their CD's.

I refuse to let anyone use or download limewire onto any of our computers, friends whom I help keep there computers up, and family. If they download it I refuse to keep helping them it has always caused problems on every PC I have seen it downloaded onto.
