    How "green" are you?

NO not for St. patty's day.lol
How much do you to help save the plant type of green?
    Here are things I do:
    recycle plastic/papers
Burn papers small boxes (like cereal, cracker etc.) we live in the country so that makes it easier.
We turn off lights when we are not in a room.
We use alot of twisty style bulbs
I hang out clothes as much as possible
We unplus all appliances when not in use. Except of course stove/ dishwasher.
I am sure there are other ways but just can't think of what else right now...

i am awful, should get better
I dont recycle because I take all our trash to work and throw it in the dumpster, its awful, I know, but the lady that runs the dump is a true nazi, if you have one thing in your trash that doesnt belong, she will rip your bags open in front of everyone and then ban you from the dump for a certain amount of days! she is nuts, she doesnt even really work there, her boyfriend does, and she drives a mercedes, wonder how much she is making off the stuff she takes from the "swap shop"

    We recycle aluminum
We grow organic veggies and fruits
We use natural products to clean with including homemade laundry and dish soaps
We do unplug things and turn things off when not in use

We do NOT use the twisty bulbs, I just cant bring myself to spend the money on them.

We recycle newspaper, cardboard, aluminum and glass.
    We have a compost heap
We grow organic veggies with said compost heap (starting this year. The compost heap took 2 years but I digress)
    I use homemade glass cleaner.
We replaced 90% of our light bulbs to compact florescent

We're required to recycle in our city so I'm used to it for about 15 years. We have seperate bins for paper, aluminum, plastic and glass.
I buy goods made with recycled products. I have a compost pile for my vegetable garden. When I grocery shop, I use reusable shopping bags.
I've been married for years so in the last few years our original appliances died off one by one and we replaced them with Energy Star appliances.
I have those energy efficient light bulbs but a couple weeks ago one burnt out and got so hot that the plastic base melted down the lamp a ways. One of the major things I try to do is not be wasteful. My mom used to always say, "waste not, want not" when I was a kid and it stuck with me.

LOL this reminds me...my Nana has a compost heap and one year she threw out a couple of squash that had started to go bad.....well the following fall we were walking out back and found about 12 squash growing.

I recycle, plus try to turn things off when not in use, compost...would like to get into more of the green cleaning products, but the price just about kills me.

I'd be interested in the homemade glass cleaner.

Oh yeah we started unplugging things too.

We do just about everything you guys have mentioned.
I just planted some veggies yesterday, hoping our last frost has passed.
    I also collect rain water.
We've had our compact florescent bulbs for over 3 yrs now & haven't had to replace any of them + they glow brighter, not to mention the energy they use.

We don't really compost, but we do throw veg, fruit & egg shells in the "back-BackYard" to decompose.

I need to call the trash company & see if we can get a smaller bin because we rarely fill ours weekly., even 2 weeks worth of trash doesn't fill the bin.
