    I need your input..PLEASE!

Here is my problem..like so many of you, I have always struggled with my weight. I am tired of it...for the last 3 years I ate those frozen entrees (lean gourmet, smart ones...) and I am tired of it..I have noticed I am "afraid" of food and don't know anymore how to eat..
I don't need to eat healthy...I need to learn how to eat right! ( I know healthy is right..but we forgot to eat "right" ..it's not avoiding food, it's eating "right"...you know what I mean?)
I know all the facts..it is just putting it into practice that is giving me a headache...
I was considering weight watchers..but I am not sure if that is solving my problem...
Do you guys have a good books? or anything that could help...like I said..I am looking for somthing that tells me what food, how much of it, choices of foods (not a meal plan) so I can go ahead and put "my" meals together, the right protions..maybe even how to learn to listen to your body again....

I know..some of you might think I am stupid for looking for a book like that (or any info to that matter), but I am at the end..I am soo tired of "dieting", being told what to eat and what to avoid...I believe we can eat anything ...just learn to know how again...

    Any input would be great...
    Thanks!

3 fat chicks is a great site that offers support for weight loss. When I began eating healthier, I found a lot of supportive people discussing real problems on that site. There is so much info, including recipes, and so much to learn there. No one is mean or judgemental, just really helpful, no matter how much you are seeking to loose.

    Here is the link: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/

I do Weight Watchers, I love it because I can eat ANYTHING I want as long as I count the points (it really is easier than it sounds),it really does come down to PORTION CONTROL and getting moving, I do have to attend meetings though, I NEED the accountability, you can go to their website (ITS FREE to look at) and they have forums just like here, you can get ALOT of information and tips from other members that have the same stuggles as you...

Why not learn to enjoy the little things - there are so many of them.

Your portions should not be bigger than your fist... You have got to exercise inorder to lose weight. Cutting back on food alone is not going to help you at all. You may lose a pound here or there but you are not going to lose much. If you have a family doctor it would be wise to speak with him/her before starting any diet.
Don't worry about what people think. They don't do it very often.

it's about portion sizes, caloric content and EXCERCISE.

Like someone else said -- you MUST exercise in order to get the most benefit.

I dont have weight loss issues -- I have weight gain issues (I know, I know, you hate me -- join the club).

Reduce the amount of fatty foods you eat, increase the amount of FRESH and STEAMED veggies, and exercise.

It isnt always that easy for everyone I eat less and yes fresh stuff ect and I exercise but the way we in our family burn food is much diff then most. Like bliss said consult your dr first you dont know you could have thyroid issues who knows. I personally dont envy anyone who cant gain weight my hubby can eat like a pig anything he wants but is he healthier nope he has BP issues and other things.

I know alot of people who have had great sucess with WW they teach you exactly what you are saying you want. Go to a meeting see if you would like it and health insurances in some cases pay for some of it.

    Thanks!

I have been excercising forever and I am not majorly overweight...I am just tired of not knowing how to eat anymore...you are always told this is good, this is not good, and this and that...I really don't believe there is bad food...I just believe we don't listen to our body anymore and eat for the wrong reasons...

I might check out WW....and see if they can give me what I am looking for..

    Thanks you guys!!!!

I agree with others it's all about portion size. The best diet I ever followed was the richard Simons diet. It told you how much of each type of food you should eat. For example..when I was on it I ate 4 carb choices, 4-5 fruits & veg. servings and 4 meat servings, 2 dairy servings & a small amount of fat. A carb choice was 1 slice of bread or two slices of low carb breads, or 1 small baked potato or 1/2 rice. fruit serving would be a small apple or small banana. Meat serving is an ounce & dairy would be a cup of milk or yougurt. You also could have 3 snacks a day, like nuts, pretzels, cheese, pita chips, air popped popcorn. There were some freebie choices, condiments like mustard and others I can't think of. It is an easy diet to follow and the best thing about it is that it shows you how to eat. Hard part is that everything should be low in fat. The Richard Simmons diet is really good for people with diabetes. Exercise is key to losing weight.
