I voted neither. I never eat them or cook with them.
I grew up on Campbells tomato (made w/milk) and a grilled cheese so I stick with that :)
When I am sick, I HAVE to have Campbells double noodle soup or I will whine until I get it lol
As for chowders. I don't know what kind it is but I will get a pint of it at the seafood store in Bourne when I am in the mood. Then I will go over to Shaws and buy a bread boule and make a yummy mess.
I don't eat soup very often but when I do I prefer the Progresso.
yep, grilled cheese and tomato soup. the best!! I like the chicken noodle, chicken and rice and bean w/ bacon too.
I love to use cream of chicken soup (nothing added) to deglaze my skillet after cooking chicken. Great sauce to put over the chicken w/ tons of flavor!
I'm a homemade soup person. Due to food allergies a lot of canned stuff is off limits. When I could have it, I preferred Progresso for lunch (Italian Wedding soup Chickarina) and and Campbells as an ingredient or when I wanted the ABC vegetable soup. (the best, imho). It's sacreligious to buy New England clam chowder out of a can. It tastes fake after eating the real thing all the time. You can buy the stuff made from scratch in every grocery store and restaurant here.
I am a homemade soup person as well/
I did a homemade potato soup tonight with some made up bread thingys. I took small baguettes and split them, put ricotta and vodka sauce on them then half got beef and half got shrimp(DS won't eat shrimp) sauteed in garlic, celery, onion ,ginger butter, lime juice, lime zest and coconut milk. Topped it all with black olives, mozz and cheddar cheese and broiled them.
The only can soup I will eat is tomato (any brand will suffice) as I am a vegetarian. I do use Cream of Mushroom for green bean casserole during the holiday season. Most canned soups contain meat or animal by-products (i.e. chicken fat), so I couldn't eat them if I had wanted to do so. I find them to be rather salty anyway. I have always preferred homemade soups though, so it isn't a drastic situation.
