Has anyone noticed portion sizes are

Have any of you noticed that portion sizes in some of your favorite restaurants are down? I don't know about chain restaurants. I guess they can't do that so easily. But we went to our favorite local, home owed restaurant last night for my birthday. We, pretty much quit going out to eat a couple of months ago. This restaurant we went to is a seafood restaurant and one of the very best I have eaten in, anywhere. We noticed our scallop portion was more like the lunch sized serving used to be, my baked potato was a grade size smaller than the one I used to get. My husband's Greek salad was about 1/4 smaller. We still had plenty to eat.
I have noticed the advertisements on tv for this restaurant have increased.
This man used to live across the street from us, until he got rich and moved to bigger and better. So we do notice when he comes on tv. I had told my dh that I thought his business must be falling off for him to have so much advertisement. And it has. Last night was a Friday night and he should have been packed and wasn't. There were actually some empty tables.
Have any of you noticed the same things?

If you pay attention when you buy products at the store they are the same price but down by an ounce or two...like the 99 cent bags of chips they are down to like 2.5 ounces or something like that. They are doing it so they can offer the same price it is a settle change but enough to save the companies millions apparently.
Really?Thats probably not the smartest thing you have done today...HUH?

We (as a whole) really dont NEED the larger portions, but I do hate it when they try to sneak it by you.

I've noticed the Mrs Smith pies and Sara lee cheesecakes are smaller and higher here. The Mrs Smith pies are a lot smaller for a higher price.

I think that the smaller portions AND raised prices are due to the fact that people just can't afford to go out and eat as much as they used to. Last month (we had some gift certificates and had to use them up) we went to Red Lobster, it was over $40.00 for just the 2 of us and we did not even have anything to drink because we ordered and took it home. While waiting for our order, I could not believe the people that came in--like couples with anywhere from 2 to 4 kids. I don't even want to know how much that had to cost them.

THATS what I meant by the "Sneak" comment. If I am not getting the same, why am I paying the same(Or more)?

I have seen this also, the prices are up at the companys,so they either raise the prices to us or make the food portions smaller, what seems fair is that if you make the sizes smaller, then cut the prices also.
