Spinoff from News forum: What do YOU pick up off the ground??
this is a spinoff of the poll on the news forum...
What do you pick up off the ground (pennies, etc).
I pick up receipts!!
Why? Because of what people buy...I will keep those receipts and look for rebate forms for those items!
Example... there is a $50 rebate on meat right now if you buy $100 worth of meat and 2 packs of coors beer... so now I will look for receipts where meat is purchased and then buy the beer and send in the receipt. It's fair game if they dropped it on their way out of the store....and will more than pay for the beer.
I just did a rebate someone was offering for $10 on dairy products because I found a receipt at Krogers that had over $30 in dairy items on it.
I also pick up money on the ground.
2 days from now, tomorrow will be yesterday.

Money, of course.
Also, since I walk a lot I pick up debris from the road where I walk. Nails, large sticks, etc. Anything that I think might do damage to a tire.
I also pick up aluminum cans when I am out. Recycling centers are paying 95 cents a pound for them here, and it only takes 22 of them to weigh a pound.
I never thought about picking up receipts and saving them for refund offers. I guess that would pay off in a big way sometimes. Maybe I should start doing that. Thanks for the idea.

I don't know enough about rebates to do that but sounds like you have gotten some good deals.
I have picked up a cancled check (like at walmart where they give you the check back) and ripped it up for them. No telling what some unsavory person would do w/ that.
Money if I see it.

I've even gotten out of the car to get a penny on the ground at stop signs. Just the thrill of the find since I certainly don't need a penny. I put all the coins or money into a coffee can and I splurge at the end of one year. I've had enough for a few candy bars. Guess I need to go to a better area to find more. Usually all I get are pennies that folks are too lazy to put in their pockets in the grocery parking lots.

Money in any amount. And anything that catches my eye really. Coke caps, store receipts to certain stores since a store here and a store in Fremont offer money to school for turning in the receipts.

Well, I'm a germaphobe so nothing is actually worth me touching... but (and I know someone will laugh) I will start keeping a glove in the car so I can pick up those receipts. What a good idea, I never would have even thought of it.

Money of course (my daughter is always finding money outside...the most has been a hundred dollar bill, my biggest amount was a twenty), but I think that's it. There was one time that I was walking at the college and there was someone's SS card and credit card on the ground. I'll pick that stuff up and turn it in.

It's amazing how much change you can find if you look. I also pick up aluminum cans. I'm not worried about the germs...I always wash my hands thoroughly when I get home!

My kids look out the window of the @ the drive through windows, they always see change there.
I don't think I pick up much from the ground besides shiny rocks or change. I did find a pewter four leaf clover charm once in the parking garage of casino. It wasn't that lucky for me. lol

That's why they make those pocket sized bottles of antibacterial gel. So you can pick up stuff off the ground, then immediately get the germs off your hands.
