    grass too high!

OMG! The police came today and gave us a notice that our grass is too high. The air cond man was out and that was $200. He had just left when the policeman came. I got a notice from the code enforcement officer. I have no idea who reported us. I didn't get to talk to him. I had been waiting for the air cond man to leave to take a bath so he came while I was doing that. I heard the dog go crazy but he does that when someone just walks by. He was inside. We live on a dead end street so it's not like lots of people could see it. I have a huge pile of trash that has been there for 3 weeks waiting for the city to pick it up. If I had known and could have gone to the door I could have asked about that still lying there and not picked up yet. The neighbors next door have grass just as high as ours so I don't imagine it was them. I don't know that we have any enemies in the neighborhood but evidently someone reported it. Blah!!!!! I am just so tired of problems. My fibromyalgia has been flaring, don't know the reason for that but know stress makes it worse. If I just had the energy I would run away with the woman who had to wash her husband's skivvies at 10:30 the other night. Blah!! Blah!!

$200 is cheap compared to here. It's $500 per notice!

Sorry your going through this but it sounds like my town code enforcement drives around looking at peoples lawn we got a notice once I was so mad it was mailed he didn't have the courage to put it on my door. There's a few people who got so much crap in their yards and their worried about how high your grass is.

No we didn't get a fine, I guess it is just a warning. The $200 was for the air cond. I have since walked up the street. The people next door have a horrible orange truck that never moves. On the other side as I said the grass is high. The people across the street have a pool they never use or clean and their backyard looks like a junk yard. Yes it is a nice neighborhood but nothing that special that tall grass would matter. Maybe 30 yrs ago when we all had groomed yards but now half of us are old now and can barely keep our grass cut.

You guys get fined for long grass?? WTH? Do towns just need another way to eeek money out of people? We can have our grass as long as we like it. In fact, the people that lived here before us let the grass in the field grow out so it could be cut for hay later.

It common around here for the city to step in and send out warning to get the grass mowed - they are not insane about it has to get pretty long and normaly someone has to complain.

    Sorry, I read it wrong.

It's $500 here but they also come out and mow it too. The house next to me is empty while the owner is deployed and nobody is caring for it. The grass is almost as tall as my 9 year old!

I wish they would drive around and knock on people's doors for their lawn being tall. Some of the suburbs around here do. I'm sorry, but that is a big pet peeve of mine! No, I never called on any of my neighbors, but it drives me nuts!
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them. Distance and time may separate us but friendship and memories won't.

You have to keep your yard looking a certain way. Clothes lines aren't allowed and you can't do any type of vehicle maintenance in your driveway such as changing the oil and stuff like that. My mother always takes her car to the dealership when it needs to be serviced so she wouldn't be doing that anyway. LOL

That's how it is here. Our HOA fee is cheap, compared to others I've heard ($40/mo) and they will mow your yard if you want. But not if you fence it in, they wont. I don't let them mow mine though, as we work hard to have a nice green, edged, weed free lawn. They tear around in the huge mowers going 60 mph up and down the yards, doing donuts practically to turn around. They've left ruts in my yard from turning so fast! They blow the clippings up into my landscaping, which I work on every year to look good. No thanks!

Sorry bout your warning. How high was/is it? Do you have anyone who can mow it for you if you aren't able? Good luck!
