Thread: s/o on guns

Thanks for sharing that looks like a lot of fun. I bet it was scary in the beginning though.

Our guns are loaded and they stay loaded. They are in a gun cabinet and no its not locked. My kids are 9 and 2. They know better than to touch the cabinet. It is in our bedroom and our room is off limits. The kids can be in there if we are but other wise they arent allowed. We have taught them every since they started moving around that the cabinet is a no no.

No slamming here, this is us as well. Except the kids aren't allowed in our room period.

Also, I usually just carry mine in the front or back waistband of my jeans, with the butt sticking out. If you don't have a permit to carry concealed here, you have to carry it out in open view. I have a shoulder holster and a side one also, but they bug me. (I do have a CWP tho)

i do the same thing hippie.... but since he was able to understand he knew mommys purse was off limits now to start over with baby number 2........ however if im carrying my purse its not scarey and home it is holstered and hten when its not it is locked with amo in it. only i have the key

Earnhardt, why are you always so on the defensive? .. No one said your a "bad" parent .. they just asked why you carry a gun!

And my kids know not to touch stuff too, but they still do, they are kids .. I would never trust a gun in my house that wasn't locked and put away, and if someone was breaking in, I'd be calling 911 before I was fumbling for a gun. But that is just my opinion.

I think dv8grl's comment may have been why she was defensive...just an observation.

DV8 was just stating her opinion on what she thinks makes a bad parent when it comes to owning a gun .. she wasn't telling Earnhardt that is what she thinks of her. Unless you are guilty of those things, than you should have no offense .. And Earnhardt, I am not saying you are those things, but you are too quick to be on the defense when it isn't needed.

I didn't take DV8's comment at all personal towards Earnhardt.

I am going to get flamed I know it but I have said it before when she asked and I will say it again. I dont think it makes you a bad parent but I personally wont have a loaded gun in my house because I know how quick kids are and accidents happen and yes I know it can happen walking across the street riding a bike I am well aware of all of it. My cousin would be alive today if he hadnt shot himself as a child with a handgun that they thought had the safety on they thought where it was was locked and when they got to him a matter of seconds yes seconds it was too late.
