Take lots of money and buy a very special designer purse as a memory of your trip...lol. Seriously, I can't help, but wanted to say welcome and enjoy yourself.

There are so many places you can go to when you're in New York. Check out Coney Island, it's in Brooklyn, but you can take the train there from Manhattan. It's like a big fair and the beach all summer long. Go to 42nd st and admire the view, it's amazing. Head over to Little Italy, and Chinatown, it's a great way to explore the culture there. Go to Central park, it's the one relaxing place and you can picnic there, go on a boat ride, and the bronx zoo is in there also. There's ground zero, empire state building, Chrysler building etc etc. The people in New york isn't that bad, just lots of crowded place and when people bump into you it's normal. LOL I hope that helps.

My son and his family just got back from NY yesterday.

The family had a blast in NY. They had tickets for the Statute of Liberty and the Empire State so they got to go right thru ahead of everyone in line. They loved Frankenstein and said they laughed so hard being a very funny play. All 4 of them went for a carriage ride in Central Park. They were flabergasted at the size of Grand Central Station being so huge, bigger than the movies!! They we wandering around at night looking for dessert and the cops came from everywhere, at least 100 of them. There in front of them were the Bloods and The Crips getting ready for a "rumble". That was the highlight for teenage grandson. The stayed at a hotel in Times Square and could walk to most things. They were so glad they went to "Ground Zero" mostly for the kidlettes. My Mur explained to them that what is started the war where he lost his eye in Baghdad. They ate at one place, Jeykle & Hyde, like from the book. After they ordered their food they had to walk around the museum like place. They took the subways a couple times and enjoyed it and were surprised how cheap it was at $1.80. Costs almost that much for a bus around here if you need to transfer." My grandgirls highlight was shopping even tho they didn't buy much. She said they were too expensive. They all want to go back to NY but fly next time. They said 5 days in NY plus 2 days driving wasn't enough time to see all they wanted to do. They enjoyed the street shows, so much talent free for tips.

Anyplace you want to see tourist stuff, get tickets ahead of time. Saves you hours of standing in line.

I'm from NYC and it's not that bad, yes there is crime (just like anywhere else) but not what most people (who don't live there)think. My best advise is don't act like a tourist but I would say that no matter where you go. Just enjoy yourself there is so much to do and see you'll have a blast.

Is a good place to start...get your free maps and start planning what you want to do...whatever time you spend there won't be long enough. One of the things that will be helpful is to familiarize yourself with the subway maps and see which trains run in which direction. You can save a lot of time and money by have a little heads-up knowledge. Also, you can purchase your subway passes online too ahead of time and you may save a dollar or two, but its very inexpensive to ride the subway all day. You can go to some of the TCKT booths to get 1/2 price tickets to some shows on Broadway while you're up there. I believe times square has a booth. I've been about 3 times in my lifetime and what a wonderful city to see and enjoy, but just be prepared, whatever 'fast pace' of life you're expecting when you get there, just double it, people move very swiftly in NYC...just go with the flow and ENJOY IT!!

    LOL... that's an understatement.

I lived there for 1 year and I have my husband's entire family living there since they came in 1987 -- so I am very well versed on NYC.

if you have or want specifics, feel free to email me, I can put together an itinerary for you -- and it won't be from the "tourists" vision... (you should try to stay away from the touristy stuff, because it is extremely OVERpriced).

    just email me: djskypp@gmail.com
2 days from now, tomorrow will be yesterday.
