When I was self-employed I had lots of deductions and was still able to get a refund. Does he save his receipts for everything (gas, supplies, etc.)?

This year has also been our biggest $4023. We paid some bills and are once again without money. LOL but hey we got some bills paid off and will be able to live a little easier.

Oh yes, we keep every reciept. We are getting back almost $1000.
Dont know about State Tax yet. I do our taxes myself and I have dreaded
doing it this year.
