I'm having my cat Checkers put down at 3.30pm today
It's been two weeks since the doctor told me he had diabetes and arthritis in two of his back disks and one hip. He has slowly been going down hill. Can't walk more then a couple of steps even with the pain meds. Not drinking water or eating. The vet had said I should see some improvement within the first week and it's not happening. I refuse to let him suffer so I'm sitting here crying my eyes out and watching the clock. I raised Checkers from a baby. He was bottle fed and this is so damn hard! It never gets any easier no matter how many times you have to let go of a fur-baby. He is only nine and it just doesn't seem fair. At least I had him for nine wonderful years.
He is just the sweetest cat. Mommy loves you Checkers and will always love and miss you.

Oh Shirl, I'm so sorry
I know you did the best you could and I think that's so unselfish of you to let him go than to suffer. As hard as it is, you're doing the best thing for him and you know we will all be here for you to cry on our shoulders. Again, I'm so sorry, he will be missed {{{{Shirl}}}}

Awww Shirl, I am so sorry. You are such a great mommy, so many people would simply let him suffer. It is hard but it is right. Hugs to you my dear friend. Checkers know he is loved and will always be. And I still think he is beautiful. HUGS!!!
The more you complain, the longer God makes you live.

I know how hard it is, I have to make that decision soon with my little dog Nikki. I am so sorry. ((((Shirl)))

I'm so sorry. We did the same thing with Missy (Westie) 6 years ago. I had her for almost 12 years. Cherish the memories you have made together and know that Checkers will be in a better place without pain/suffering. I know it doesn't help....my thoughts are with you and your family. It's a difficult decision for anyone to make.

((((Shirl)))) I'm so sorry. Your the best cat mommy ever for not letting your baby stay in pain. Believe me, it's not worth it putting them through all that pain. I wish I would have had the guts to put my Persian to sleep before she died. Her last day was horrible on the whole family, and especially on her. We were all crying, even my husband, and he never cries. The reason I'm telling you all this is because I don't want you to have any doubts if you are doing the right thing or not, because you really are doing the best thing. YOu tried everything you could to make her better, and that's more than most would do. I'll be praying for you.
