I'm with you on this one! Holy crap! I would NEVER ink myself forever just because you said you would to try and stop your Son!

Hey that's a good suggestion!! I honestly didn't know that.
That's very interesting, do you know why that is?

Risks of HepC or other blood borne pathogens. Our neice had cancer and we were donating platlets for her - one of my brothers had gotten a tat about 18 months before and they would not let him donate.

I was just telling my husband that same thing right before I read your post.

JerseyMook, my hair is almost to my knees. LOL But I wear it up in a loose ponytail wrapped up on my head most of the time. So I could always just wear my hair down I guess.
I'm 41, and I think of a tattoo parlor full of skinny 20 somethings and I just feel like they would laugh me out of the shop if I went into one.

But If I tell my son that I was just trying to bluff him out, he will think from then on that I'm bluffing when I tell him stuff. Ya know what I mean? LOL

Oh gosh, I don't know...you all made some good points, but anyway I'll have to think long and hard on this....maybe he will forget about it. LOL

spongebob, I took a pic of it last night when he got home, and it has blood smears and junk all around it. After he got out of the shower and I put lotion on it for him it looked 100% better for some reason, but he was in a hurry to get to the field house and left before I could get any photo's of it. He has to run field trails today.
But here is one of the photo's of it before his shower. I'll try and take another photo of it when he ever gets back home.

EXACTLY! If he is old enough to get a tattoo by himself with out parental consent, he is old enough to know that parents make mistakes sometimes and say things they don't mean.
Never argue with an idiot. It will bring you down to his level and he’ll win because of experience.

As Tattoos are for some people (like me), tattoos aren't for everyone.

It has to be personal choice. If you want a tattoo then get one. If you don't, then don't. Bottom line I tell my kids is simply tell the truth.

If you really don't want to get a tatt, then don't. Just explain it to him. And I don't think I would use this method to keep him from doing something again, it obviously doesn't work with him!

I guess it all depends on what a person thinks is more important...to stand by their word, or to be stuck with ink for life. LOL.....

I might tell him I changed my mind and just see what he says....and depending on his reaction will determin if I'm stuck with a cute little yorkie on the back of my neck or not. LOL

After all I won't have to look at it if I don't want to, but I will always have to look him in the eye. And how can I expect him to keep his word, if I don't?

    Thanks batrypk and spongebob

Just an FYI one on the back of the neck is gonna hurt.. Also my mom was 50 when her and I went and both got our 1st tattoos and I have 8 and she has 4 now. I am not a twig and neither is she. If you want to get one dont let age or size get in your way after all they have to look at big fat sweaty hairy men
