What do you do to keep things organized?

It seems like no matter how hard I try to keep things organized, there is always clutter.

What organizing ideas work for you?

What exactly are you looking to organize??

I've been reduced to buying those large plastic tubs with lids and stuffing as much stuff in as possible and tossing them in the basement...Guess I could use some ideas too LOL

LOL with 4 kids my house is full of those tubs!!

(I just put that there cuz I like it lol)

EVERYTHING!!

I have two filing cabinets filled with office supplies & other junk that I need to go through and clean out and organize.

My desk is constantly cluttered, and it really bugs me that it won't stay neat.

My kitchen seems pretty hopeless at times. The laundry/utility room is a disaster.

The kids bathroom, well, we won't even talk about that one. I need a few more of the rubbermaid shoe boxes to go under the sink in there.

The problem is that we do have some things for keeping things organized. It's just that I'm the only one that bothers to make sure things get back to those storage containers.

I looked for two hours yesterday for my hair pick that I use on my hair right after it's washed. My daughter had borrowed it from the master bathroom.

After two hours of looking for it, I gave up and used something else to comb through my hair after it was dried. About 9pm last night, I made my daughter finish cleaning out the drawers of her dresser with my supervision because she said she had not taken it to her room. Guess what she found in there?

I also need some kind of organizing system for the closets.

Me too! I LOVE to pitch stuff! If I don't need it, wear it, use it, or love it....it's outta here. A cluttered house stresses me out!

Stuff and clutter just stresses me out and totally overwhelms me! It can get paralysing....

But watch out when I'm on a roll!

I've gotten better over the years with detaching from my 'stuff'....but I still need to work on that....

This also applies to 'mental clutter'.....unfortunately when you are a 'capable' person, people think that all of it is 'your job'.....I am so behind, but catching up and learning to say, "my plate is full right now'. Didn't all happen overnight, not going to go away overnight....but I'm trying.

I totally do not keep stuff. I have a small house, (1100 sq. feet, 1 bath, 2 teenagers). I have what I need & that is it.

I'm def the wrong person to talk about organization

I'm in the process of going through ALL my stuff and see about getting rid of what I don't need... but man that is going to be hard, I like to keep my stuff

What I do is .....threaten my family that if it isnt put back where it belongs, its going in the trash or the donation box. I hate " stuff " also but, I have a lot of it. I was one of those people that one time in my life for many years didnt have a thing, everything was given, borrowed or found so Its been really hard for me to just get rid of things. I have finally in the last couple of years been able to start giving things away or throwing them away if they are not needed. I still have some plasic bins of stuff that I dont use but just dont have the heart to get rid of it. I desperately need to make myself a for sale thread huh.
