I had it done years ago and had no problems. Actually, it was a divorce present to myself after having been married for 20 years LOL
In memory of my friend Becky B. who died from breast cancer. I can still hear her say "early detection, early detection, early detection"..........

I had mine done 9 years ago, the only differences I have seen is that my periods are shorter however I have a heavier flow the first day. I have 2 incisions both less than 1" and barely noticible. Mine was done outpatient and I was out of the surgery center and shopping within a few hours.

Thankfully my husband had a vasectomy , I was on the pill forever, but needed to get off becasue strokes are such killer of every one in my family.
I'm not a fan of elective surgery, but I'd have one if anything happened to my husband. I'm 32 with no clildren, so hopefullly they'd do one for me. Years back when I would ask no doctor would do it becasue I was "too young" and didn't have children, DUH, THAT WAS MY POINT!
I never understood why a man can get a vasectomy at about any age, but a woman has to fight for one if she has no kids... ?!?

I had my tubes tied almost 8 years ago. I have the most awful periods. Heavy bleeding, very painful. That alone makes me regret doing it.

Had mine done 29 years ago right after I gave birth to my daughter. Already had two boys. Went through menopause at age 38. It was great. No more periods. I'd do it again in a heartbeat!!

That's what I've heard from most people who have had it done. I'm glad that the rest of you that have had one are happy with it. I guess it's just one of those things that affects everyone differently.

I used to have bad cramps and heavy bleeding for over a week till after I had my first baby. Then, no cramps and shorter. I had my tubes tied 17 years ago and ever since then, the cramps and heavy bleeding is back. Thankfully, it's shorter but still painful. My DD (who just had her second today) asked me about getting hers tied. I told her I don't recommend it. Wish I hadn't. And btw, I'm 44 and menopause is nowhere in sight.

I had mine done 11 years ago after I had it done I would never tell someone else to do it ever! almost 3 years ago I had to have a hysterectomy and I would not tell any one to have one of those unless you really need too either
I speak my mind because it hurts to bite my tongue!

I had a vasectomy done 3 months after my fourth child was born (13 years ago). Believe me tubal ligations can be much more risky than men getting a vasectomy. My stepmother and sister had tubal ligations and both had complications that no one should go through. But everyone is different about how their bodies react...But the surgery can be very invasive and recovery can take a long time.
Make sure to do your homework before having this done.
As for vasectomies they are very simple, much less costly and your guy will recover in a few days except for the no sex for around 2 weeks. And many Planned Parenthood places do these procedures at an additional cost savings. The worst for me was having frozen pea bags on the surgical site. But then I don't like the COLD. And my wife says I "walked funny" for about 2 days.
Best of luck to you no matter what you choose.

I thought about having a tubal ... however ... I am a BIG baby when it comes to doing it .... we talked about the vasectomy and I think it is much easier for a man to get it done than a woman.
