Is this the new politically correct statement?

I was just watching tv and a commercial came on for Ambien CR. You know how they used to say to talk to your doctor to see if it is right for you? Well, now they are saying "prescriber" instead of doctor. I guess there are other people who could prescribe a medication, but was it worth changing the commercial for?

Maybe the Physician assistants and nurse practitioners felt they were being left out, since technically they are not doctors. They can write prescriptions though. That's probably the reason why they changed the commercial.
