Thread: Am I crazy or what??

I recently went to Indiana for the 4th of July . I stayed a week, I was born there but I have lived in Florida since I was 9. Anyways, when I was there and I totally loved it. There were houses for sale everywhere for like 10,000 dollars. I cant believe how cheap things are there compared to Florida. I came home and told hubby all about everything, and he was like Let's move! I was not sure at first because Florida is my home. But I finally said okay. Anyways we are not the kinda people who just up and move, we are very settled people, who do not like change. I dont know what it is but I feel like I have to go there , like I need to be there. I have felt like this even before I went to visit. Almost all of my family live there and my hubby has never been anywhere but Florida, So this would be a huge culture shock.What are your opinions?? Thank all!!!!

I grew up in Tampa. I would never in a zillion years move back to FL. Too much crime, no more trees, nothing but condos & mini-malls anymore.

As far as how cheap things are up their, they have state income tax, so take that into consideration. Plus, what is the sales tax in IN.?

We moved to TN, about 6 months ago and we have no state income tax, but our sales tax is 9.25% !!!!!!! And they tax EVERYTHING here, food, over the counter meds, thrift store items, etc...

Indiana (depending on which parts) is nice. I loved visiting my old Navy friends up their.

I have friends who will never leave FL.. and I keep trying to tell them that their is more out their & you have to experience it. I'm amazed that most of my FL friends really have no clue about other states, its like they are in a bubble, a FL bubble!

I think that their tax was like 6%, I have researched crime,work,and everything else I could think of. I loved it so much when I was there. And in Tampa there is 5 new housing places going up. The street where I live there is at least 3. And in Ind. I seen houses where I used to live. No condos or subdivisions going up.That was a great sight to see. I dont want anyone to think that I am crazy but I have had dreams before that come true, like soon after I have them. ( for instance I would dream about my neighbors fighting,a hubby and wife and the next day or 2 they would be yellin and stuff out in the yard,)lol....so I have recently dreamed about Indiana and I all of a sudden started hearing songs with Indiana being sung in them like the Dixie chicks song and a redhot chili peppers song very weird .As if it is a sign or something! If we are going to move there we are going to do it when the kids get out of school next June.

Were you exaggerating when you said they had homes for sale for $10,000? I hope so, unless you were referring to mobile homes. I know property may be cheaper, but another thing you need to look at is cost of living. More specifically...job wages. Your family may take a huge pay cut by moving up north, but that could still work for you as long as the cost of living is low. Kinda like a home that would sell for $150,000 here in KY would be about $400-$500,000 in other places.

No I wasnt exaggerating Kyswpgrl . I have went to real estate sites that I found for there and they range from 8,900 too 15,000 and they have more expensive ones too but I dont need a Farm . hehehe

Anderson huh? Cool , I am from Muncie. not to far..... Well I have prayed and prayed about it , and I think that I just might move. I am only 31 we only live once, and if we at least give it a try and still dont like it then we can always move back! I think of it as an experience.It will be an experience for the kids to see snow and to have some great memories (They will be like ,my crazy mom just up and moved us to corn country!! ...hahahahaha) Just kiddin... WOW, thats not far at all, I go to muncie all the time, their mall is so much better than ours....Good luck with everything and I will keep you in my prayers!
