We use Claritin and now you can buy the generic brand and it works just as well.

If you have a lot of problems with allergies, OTC versions won't do the trick. You're better off going to a doctor and getting a prescription strength allergy medication. I recommend Zyrtec. It's been a miracle drug for me.

Are your allergies indoors? If so, I totally recommend buying an air purifier.
My allergies were SO bad (for about 4 years) that my doctor couldn't even find a prescription that would work (I tried a ton!).
Now that I have the purifier, I have NO allergy attacks and only use 3 generic otc pills at night when my nose gets itchy. (I was taking a load of pills before this and still having attacks, so being down to 3 once a day is amazing to me).

I had bad allergies to pollen that set in when I was about 16 or 17. I've always taken Claritin for them and it's worked wonders. However, I'd like to share that ever since I started Chiropractic care, I haven't had a single attack of allergies and the pollen has been quite bad here this year...

Re: What do you take for allergy's

I have year around bad allergies.my dr sent me to an allergy specialist. and they did an allergy test.yes I had ALL the symptoms of allergies.my dr told me I was a candidate for allergy shots.I tried a bunch of prescription allergy pills(before the allergy dr appt) nothing helped.I then was put on zyrtec.it helped some.(im supposedly allergic to everything, pets, pollen, trees, grasses, etc) anyway the allergy specialist put me on nasonex 2 sprays 1x day and astelin 2 sprays 2x a day and I have not needed my zyrtec or any other kind of allergy pill nor any kind of sinus pills(have bad sinuses also) and since taking the nose sprays I have had NO allergy symptoms(Im also on patanol eye drops for if and when my eyes get itchy) maybe you could talk to your dr and have them to referr you to an allergy specialist.you can develop allergies as you get older.just because you werent allergic to certain things before doesnt mean you arent now.also keep windows closed late in the afternoon when pollen count is highest.allergy specialist also told me to have a dehumidifier running as well as the ac during the summer to keep humidity down.also have your home checked for mold.thats a big thing lots of people are allergic to.
