Is BBS safe again?

I think before you accuse other sites, make sure it is definitly a trojan and not overactive software installed on your computer. Something in a person's signature, that sets off a warning, does NOT mean the site has viruses, so implying so is not only rude, it's crazy.

You haven't found ANY site where you don't have any warnings? If you have, I would stay there. Why keep forcing the issue or trying to borrow trouble if you think the places are unsafe? Just find a safe one to your standards and be done with it.

I have never had any problems here with spyware of trojans, When other people were complaining about it I had no problems, personally I think it was probably something they picked up from clicking on a freebie link or something, because only a few people had problems, or like Katt said it could have been a sig, it could have been alot of things.

I am mostly puter illiterate so not sure why these things happen. I have friends who won't come back here since they think the site messed with their puters.

If we know why we get warnings then we can be more unconcerned about it if we know it isn't harmful.

Same with any site that gives us warnings. If it's harmless than we won't be concerned.

LOL, lookout for what? We all try to help each other online I would hope. I like to have lots of nice sites to go to. If we help each other we will have a nice enviroment all around to enjoy.

Good freebies, nice topics to talk about and good friends to make.

I think there are a lot of the BBS members that have "strayed" but would love to come back. I have joined other boards but I have not stopped coming here. You have to admit....BBS is the mothership...lol

I thought the only way to get a virus is from 'downloading' something with a virus attached to it. I know 'spyware' is a different story, and I have had my problems with that crap! but I know it did not come from BBS.

Well I go to four freebie places now but I agree, BBS is the mothership for freebies and all the other catagories. Guess it's because it has been around longer.

My kids advise me not to go to any freebie sites or sites that have ads but then the internet wouldn't be any fun. I have a friend that never goes online so she won't get a virus. LOL, why have a puter? She uses it to practice her typing.

I never had any trouble here either but others say they have. I want them to feel like they can come back and not be concerned about their puters. That they can go to any site and not be concerned. A good anti-spyware should take care of most things.

I guess it's like Tom said. Get the good software and then don't worry. I'm glad no one is having any trouble here now. Thanks.

Nor have we and my Mom's computer runs a different kind of virus protection.

I have never had a problem here. I have even backed down security levels when people we're complaining of problems and still had no issues.

A lot of security programs "over react" and report things that are not necessarily a real threat.
