Do kids really use the Power Wheels?
My 5 year old really wants one and I am not sure if I should spend the money.

Re: Do kids really use the Power Wheels?
I suppose it depends on the kids...some I am sure ride it all the time and then there are others who may ride it only a few times. We don't have a powerwheels but we do have one of those mini motos that we bought for our son last year becuase he HAD to have it. He has ridden it maybe 2x and it just sits in the basement.
He wants a powerwheels but after the mini moto... uh uh.

lol, he wants one SO SO bad he told us that we can easily find a Jeep at walmart. He wants to ride around his little brother. We are really thinking about it 'cause it is the only thing he has every really asked for. I wish I could find on at a garage sale or something so at least I won't be out too much.

Have you tried looking on E-bay for someone in your area that might have one or putting a want ad in the paper. There is also Craigs List you can check out. Those are just some idea.
I loved them as a child so we will definitely be getting one for our daughter but not until next year when shes a little bigger!!

Re: Do kids really use the Power Wheels?
We got our son the powerwheels Ninja when he was about 4 and he all but drove the wheels off of it! He loved that thing and it helped him gain the coordination he needed to move up to a small ATV.

Re: Do kids really use the Power Wheels?
We bought my son a john deer gator, he LOVES it. Hes had it for 2 years, he can control it down to the last second to turn. The battery died and no longer holds a charge, but if it weren't for that he'd still be riding it, and he's almost 6. It goes 2 1/2 mph and 5 mph. It towes 120lbs in the back. We got it thru a John Deere Dealer. Same one from Toys R US. I'd say go for it, they have a decent resale value. I bought the one from Walmarts black friday a few years ago, it was a mini one for like $70, and resold it last year for $30, and it was in rough shape but it still ran well.

paper last night, And, when I called this morn, it's been sold. It sounded like a good deal too. It came with an xtra battery.

Re: Do kids really use the Power Wheels?
My DS got one for his 4th bday and would still be driving it if he could fit into it (he is now 8). LOL He LOVED that thing. He would drive it around EVERYWHERE. Even in the snow!!!!!!! I seriously couldnt get him to stop riding it when he got older. Finally he realized he couldnt fit into the seat and use the pedals so its now sitting in our garage....I see you live in IN...if you lived closer, I would tell you that you could have it for free but I am almost to the WI border. Its the green Jeep Wrangler...its pretty mangled though. The decals are half ripped off, the seat belts are long gone and the red thing in the back is faded to pink! The wheels are almost worn down too. It was VERY well used.

Re: Do kids really use the Power Wheels?
well........it depends..........my son got one when he was 2..........had a ball with it, until the battery died, the motor quit.....(2 different motors), the back wheel had to be replaced 3 times, there was a recall on it for the wiring harness thing shorting out.....then after that, the horn didn't work.!! we bought 4 or 5 batteries and they replaced 2, this was a 12 volt battery, I might add. Like I said, it was ok, my son rode it, but it was broken more than it worked!!! IT WAS A PEG PEREGO........I wouldn't suggest buying that brand......our other son got the 6 volt 4 wheeler later and it would only go inside......would not work on grass or rocks...........IF YOU BUY ONE......make sure you read the fine print about the speed of it, the type of batteries it uses and whether is will go on grass or cement.........$400 is a lot to spend on something so make sure you get ALL the details......
good luck
