    Invasion of the black kind....!!!

    We have a lot of slugs around here and a few make it into the house.

    Last night when Michael asked "what is that in the corner" I groaned thinking "it's a spider or a slug" I hate spiders and must kill them but slugs are such a pain..too squishy to kill so I have to take them outside. Mike would kill everything he sees, so if I want something to live, it's up to me.

    I walk over, and it's a big black cricket. One of the biggest I think I've ever saw. My husband, being the smart guy he is (insert smile here!) says "So go find liption, let her kill it" I told him "yes, let's put her to work!"

    I found liption, in the puter room, managed to catch her and put her RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE CRICKET. Practically on a platter if you will. The thing was cornered! It hops away. Liption showing very little interest walks into our bedroom. Lazy cat. She's good for nothing but eating. UGHN.

    I thought I'd let the cricket be. It's not a horrible slug or crawling spooky spider. And, as an added bonus, someday when it hops out, I'd give a lil frightened scream!

    Well, the cricket had other plans. Off into Isabel's room it hops. Mike informs me of such and "we have to catch it, Isabel saw it go in & she won't sleep with it in her room."
    Ok, Mike's right. He told me to catch it & kill it. What does he think it's a spider? I kill spiders, not crickets.
    So, we look for said cricket. Isabel points out where it was. Mike tells me to catch it. I tried, but with it's giant hops it jumped away. I should say jump as the mutant huge cricket leaps & bounds very high!

    I told Mike it jumps too high. It escaped it's fate...temporarily.

    Mike looks for it. I tell him "it's way over there at the end of the bed. No, now it's under the bed.." Mike, being the man he is, moves isabel's bed out a foot.."No, now the crickets back against the wall"

    It hops toward me again. I've gotten used to the gigantic hops this thing takes, and I catch it!

    Yay!
    Thinking this surely wouldn't end here, unless Isabel SAW the cricket go outside, I tell Isabel, "Let's go outside & set the cricket free"
    We walk outside & proceed to watch the cricket crawl & hop away until he's covered in grass.

    Crisis averted!

    ~~~I just had to share
    LOL, I kill all spiders too. Had two bite me and that was two too many. My kitties are great spider killers. I find dead ones in the house that they have squashed. Good kitties unless they get bit in the process.
    Personally, I would not have wanted a cricket in the house. They make too much noise with their chirping. And slugs would be flushed as soon as I caught them with a kleenex. They eat holes in my plants.
    I flushed lots of beetles, looks like lady bugs but not as cute, last Fall.They were everywhere and they bite. Yikes. Haven't seen any this Spring, thank goodness, but they will probably be back in the Fall.
