Does anyone have the voice over ip phone service like Vonnage or Lingo?
I am interested in getting it but want to know if there are any pro's or con's and how you like it.
Thanks

Re: Voip phone service
I tried Packet 8. Only had it for about 3 weeks and handed it back in so I would n't get charged. It was a trial bases I had. It was ok but the number they gave me was long distance for everyone to call me. Wasn't long distance for me but was for everyone else. I thought that was silly my neighbor would have to pay long distance to call me. No local numbers available. The sound was ok but I would get echos at times which I didn't like and when talking it was like a delay at times as well.
Maybe once they have been out longer and have more of the bugs worked out I will try it again and when they have local numbers for me.
There are others on the board that have VOIP and they have said they love it.

Re: Voip phone service
I ordered Vonage last week. My router should arrive today, so maybe I will have some insight for you later.
I looked at all the VoIP companies, and ended up choosing Vonage. I checked http://www.DSLReports.com and Vonage had the least bad posts, and several good ones in my area. They also offer a free month, and will waive the $29.99 activation fee if you call them. I also really liked BroadVoice, but they wanted $39.99 to start. BroadVoice gives you unlimited long distance, anywhere in the world.
HTH!

Re: Voip phone service
just check and see if they have the enhanced 911 before ya order.
Not all of these VOIP systems are set up for 911 if ya had an emergancy which could be life saving!
FYI
I finally found the one man not like all the rest!
