    Re: Electric or Gas???

I have had both and I did not like the electric, when we moved into our house it was electric, so the first thing I did was change it over to gas, I have more control over gas and it is so much faster to cook, I will never have electric...and as someone else mentioned, make sure you ask about cleaning an electric top, I know my friend has to use a special cleaner for hers and use it every time she messes the top,....

    Re: Electric or Gas???

I grew up with gas but have electric now (came with the house). I HATE electric stoves. It's harder to control the temperature/amount of heat in the burners and things are forever overcooking. If we someday have the money, I'm buying gas and having gas lines installed!

Electric!!!! I grew up with gas and you could always smell the gas leaking. I hated it and when I got married I got electric. I will never change.

    Re: Electric or Gas???

I have a glass top electric at home and cook on a gas at work. I like the way gas cooks better, the oven seem to bake better and it is easier to control the temp on the stove. With electric even if you turn in down the coils have to cool off to get to a lower temp while gas is immediate. I agee that cleaning the glass top is a big pain, yep something always boils over (my point in controling temp) and it iis sometimes impossible to get it cleaned up all the way. (bar keepers friend works great and is alot cheaper than glass top stove cleaners)

I prefer a gas stove. Simply because if your cooking, on an electric stove it takes longer to "cool" down if you turn down the temp of the stove, and with gas, its immediate.

    Re: Electric or Gas???

I ended up getting the gas as since we have hurricanes and the power goes out we can still cook. I wanted to get the electric but the old man wanted the gas so that is what we went and got. It is really nice and I am having a great time using it. I love to cook.

Good luck and I'll be there for dinner Sunday
Me too. I wouldn't have known to purchase the flat glass top electric model, but it was brand new in the house, when we bought it.

I love it! Easy to clean.

    Re: Electric or Gas???

Glad you like your new stove. It has been so long since I have used gas I would probably burn everything. But I know when I had it many many years ago I did like it. But your right if you loose power they still work. That is the bad thing about electric.
