Best time to do Disneyworld?
When is the best time out of the year to hit the parks in the Orlando area? I'm thinking cheapest, less crowded, etc. We've been wanting to go to Florida and we just never do . . . . either no money, etc, but dh is thinkin if we just set a date . . . . we could work on it better. So I'm gonna try that. Set a date. Any advice on a good time of year?

Re: Best time to do Disneyworld?
My mother used to work for Disney and she said it's always busiest during the summer and during school vacations. Also if you go in the summer the lines to get on the rides are going to be very long and it's also very hot. The last time we went was during the summer and we waited over an hour to get on certain rides.

I agree with the above. I live near Orlando and have been at all times of the year. Going during the week helps too. If you can go when it is cooler that is a plus. Standing in line when it is 90'-100' is miserable. Definetly stay away from summer if you can.

You might want to consider going in October. I got married on September 30 at a wedding chapel in Orlando. (we eloped) Then the following 3 days we went to all four of the Disney parks. We didn't wait in any lines for longer than 10 minutes and many of the rides had no wait. We stayed at a hotel off the Disney property and there were no traffic jams going to/from the parks like in the busier times.
Have fun!!

Re: Best time to do Disneyworld?
Everytime we have gone, we have gone in February and always had the best times
We go monday - thursday and I can honestly say that I don't remember ever having to wait in line for anything. Hotels are cheaper too. We stayed at one within a mile of the park and it was only $25 a night for a double.
The weather was really nice as well. It was always a little cool in the early mornings, but not so much that you had to wear pants.

Re: Best time to do Disneyworld?
Well...I work for Disney (in California) and I talk to the Florida people all the time. They say that, hands down,...the best time to go is October!! Not only is it less crowded...but the weather is great! There might be an occasional rain storm...but you can work around them. October is the beginning of hurricane season...but USUALLY...they haven't hit yet. (This past year was definitely an exception...LOL.)
Another good time is early May. School isn't out yet and it isn't hot yet. As others have stated...always avoid times which surround days when kids are out of school.

Is it better to just go and not make any reservations so you can get a cheap motel not to far away??

Re: Best time to do Disneyworld?
I always think it is better to make reservations. Many hotels/motels offer passes to WDW in the cost of the room...so keep that in mind when you are getting prices.
Another thing to know...(which those of us used to the parks in California don't quite visualize)...the four WDW parks are NOT right next to each other. They are about 20 (driving) minutes apart. So, it's not as if you can walk from one to the other. Disney does offer shuttle service to the various parks, but if you are not staying on property...then you need to be prepared to drive everywhere. Disney owns a HUGE chunk of land down there.
Although staying in one of the WDW resorts is a wonderful experience...you can certainly do it cheaper by staying somewhere else.
However...one other thought. I know that they are offering some wonderful, fairly inexpensive packages which include airfare, hotel, and park passes. Go to the WDW website and check it out.

If you're talking about the Entertainment Book, I already have one.
