A problem need help!!!!
I have a wolf/akita mix. He is white with gold eyes. Beautiful but he chews on his hind legs in the front part above his feet. They are bloody and now getting infected from all this. I can't take him to the vet cause he has wolf in him and they won't treat him.I need some advice on what to get to put on his legs. I am afraid he is going to get gangreen if I don't get this taken care of.
His hind feet are swollen and a little pusie already. Any suggestions on what I could use that would't hurt him if he licks it off? PLEASE???????

Doin' alright...
Re: A problem need help!!!!
I had a cat that did that because of nerves. Every time I took her into the vet, they put this salve on her. When I asked what it was, the asst. told me it's the equivalent to Neosporin. I have since asked a vet friend of mine about it and she said that alot of vets (her included) say that NeoSporin is ok to put on it if you cover it with a few wrap arounds of gauze.
Peroxide is a good thing to use too. Normally, in pets you would use it to induce vomiting but it can also be poured over the wound.

Re: A problem need help!!!!
Thats really serious Renegade.
You will have to get one of those collars that'll keep him fr5om biting and chewing. There made out of plastic. He'll still be able to eat and drink with it on.
My nieghbor use to have a wolf mix and was able to license and keep him just the same. It was a stray. Maybe certain states are different.
I feel so bad for the poor thing, Have you had him long?
Somethings got to be done for sure though. No matter what you put on it he'll lick it off. Maybe you can call a vet and say a visitor is coming from out of state and needs one, and could you pick it up. They are not expensive. Besides whats a little white lie. I would do it for sure.
Good luck in what ever you decide.

Re: A problem need help!!!!
The name of those collars is "Elizabethan Collar"
You can get one at www.doctordog.com
They are only $9.59
Of course it could be more for your dog because of it's size.
May be a lot cheaper at bthe vets.

Re: A problem need help!!!!
Yes,I have raised him from a pup. My daughter had a 98%timber wolf for awhile and I bred my akita with it. He was a big puppy and has only gotten larger. Funny thing is he thinks he's a lap dog.OMG!!!!LOL

You can buy those collars at pet smart too. K-flex is what they give dogs w/ skin infection too.
