My question is, why bump up a thread that's 5 yrs old, and have people arguing about this crap again??

    LET IT GO.

I was raised Catholic. My husband is Jewish. We've been celebrating Chrishanukkah for over 20 years. I guess we are just equal opportunity enjoyers. I was absolutely tickled to find this thread. We went through the whole generic greeting card phase. No red and green. Just seasons greetings or happy holidays. Kept friends and families on both sides happy. (Now we just don't mail cards at all anymore. No problem.)

Why do you consider it "arguing" ? For the most part it is being discussed in a friendly manner Is it okay to get opinions from people who may not have been members five years ago ? Or those who may have missed it last time around ?

Yeah Flashback! Adam Sandler’s The Chanukah Song

Because it’s Chanukah and no one has come up with a better song about the Festival of Lights since this one came out in 1994.

I didn't realize this thread was old .. must have missed it the first time .. lol .. but I don't think anyone is arguing either.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them. Distance and time may separate us but friendship and memories won't.

We got the shop keepers saying "Merry Christmas" again. Glad that was settled but the atheists still want to make trouble.

You put up your manger I will put up a sign next to it telling you it's all a fantasy and you are stupid to believe in it. "Baa Humbug" It's sad the mangers need to be taken down and no one can have anything at some places that are connected to the statehouse or government or public park. No decorations of any kind.

The "war on Christmas" goes on.

At least with Jews we can combine holidays and celebrate both with song and celebrations but with atheists everything must come to a halt with no songs or celebrating. No fun at all.

We had a child in my sons' class that was some religion I don't remember ... no parties or celebrations of any kind. We could celebrate "seaons" but not holidays. Created lots of bad feeling with the other parents - no matter how we tried to "accomadate" their beliefs, they were never satisfied ... but unwilling to help plan or even advise us in what was acceptable. We were so happy when they chose to home- school.

Sounds like Jehovia's Witness. They don't celebrate anything......not even their birthdays.

What ever happened to ''majority rules??"

In the Save-a-Lot ad this week....said Merry Christmas and had a pic of Mary, Joseph and Jesus and scripture. Took up half a front page. It was so cool that I emailed the company to tell them so. They replied, thanking me for my comments.
