Re: Has anyone had a tooth pulled?
I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled, and 1 of those was broken. Just did novocain. It wasn't painful at all, they were out before I knew it. I had no swelling or bruising. Think I only ended up taking one of the pain pills. I even ate about an hour after having them all removed. Although I was told that was a stupid thing to do, something about I could of gotten a "dry socket"

Re: Has anyone had a tooth pulled?
I've never had one pulled, but I had my wisdom teeth cut out when I was 13. I was given sleeping gas before they shot me up with novocaine and I only woke up once when he hit a nerve ending or something.. he just put the little nose mask back on and back off to the white staircase I went. They gave me pain pills and sent me home. I went to Charlotte the next day to the mall and wasn't really bothered. The food thing can be tricky though! Just make sure and take really good care of your mouth when you get home, getting a dry socket hurts really bad. And then you have to go back and he/she will pack a gauze type thing in there. VERY nasty feeling when he pulls it out.

Re: Has anyone had a tooth pulled?
I had a back molar pulled because the cavity was just so bad there was no way they could save the tooth (it was filled before and my old dentist did a bad job filling it, drilled out the whole tooth pretty much so there was no structure left). I was freaked out and bought a bunch of stuff like apple sauce, fruit cups, etc... the night before. When I went down there I was shaking. He gave me a shot to numb it up, let it sit in for a good while then he had his assistant hold my head. They have to rock it back and forth to get it out and you can feel it way down there a little. It wasn't anything unbearable and after it was out it didn't hurt anymore since I was still numb. I got antibiotics and vicodin. I popped a vicodin when I got home because I was afraid of the pain, but it didn't hurt AT ALL. I was surprised because I persoanlly didn't even feel any soreness the following days. It's gross having to bite on the gauze because it gets real bloody and everything but that stops pretty fast. I got rice stuck in the hole the next day but it came out. Good luck. It really isn't as bad as it seems. In fact I had to get a filling on a tooth a few weeks ago that they thought was gonna be a root canal. I told them if it was to just pull it because it would be cheaper and it isn't as bad. A root canal would take 2 one hour visits and it only takes about 5 minutes to pull the thing.

I VOTED

Re: Has anyone had a tooth pulled?
Everyone is different. Depending how easy it is to get the tooth out. Me personally I got all four of my wisdom teeth pulled and if I had the choice now I would never do it. Not to scare you or anything but I was in pain for about 3 weeks. My teeth were not wanting to come out. It hurt very bad. But i have had others tell me it didnt hurt so to each his own........

Re: Has anyone had a tooth pulled?
23 to date or something around that number. Once you have the novocaine you won't feel a thing. It's easy. And get rid of the tongue jewelry before you damage more teeth.
I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.

Re: Has anyone had a tooth pulled?
Oh my goodness! I had to have a molar cut out at the first of the summer. I was so afraid. They numbed it and went to work. It didnt hurt but it was kind of irritating to have them pushing and pulling in my mouth. I went to walmart after and I felt fine. lol. Came home and felt fine, the feeling came back around midnight and I thought I was gonna die, lol. It was just sore. The next morning I got up and took a pain pill and went to work, after I was there about an hour, I got violently sick! It was the pain pill. LOL. The only thing that I didnt like about the whole experience was having a hole where a tooth had always been. I didnt want to eat because I didnt want food to get in the hole. I am kind of neurotic. Be sure to gargle with salt water.

Re: Has anyone had a tooth pulled?
Glad to hear it went smoothly. My 9 yr old had FOUR pulled out a couple months ago. They had to put him to sleep for it though. But he took his pain meds that night before bed and by the next morning he was his normal self again.
I think the painful part for him is now not being able to chew gum because of his spacers. I know there's some out there that he could probably chew but he doesnt throw a fit so we dont bring it up, lol. His teeth came in with NO enamel , so anything to prevent having more dental work done. That kids mouth is worth a fortune and I know he has more work to be done
You sound smarter when you keep your mouth shut.
