DD passed out in shower :(
My 13 yr old DD passed out in the shower this morning. I heard a couple of big thumps and thought hmmm that isn't a shampoo bottle! So I ran upstairs while yelling her name and she never answered. I get to the bathroom and the little fart has the freaking door locked. grrrrrrrrrr How many times have I told her not to lock the bathroom door while taking a shower just incase some thing were to ever happen like that. (I think she learned her lesson!) Any way I am yelling her name and I hear her kind of crying and saying she fell. So I am still yelling for her to open the door. I get in and she's sitting down on the toilet. I walked toward her and she starts to go forward. I grabbed for her and she was shaking and in a daze. I had to pat her face to get her to come back to me. OMG I have never in my life been so scared. So we spent a good part of the day at the emergency room. Thank goodness my husband works at the hospital. He met us and brought the girls something to eat. Oh I am holding back tears just thinking about it again. The Doc at the ER said all of the tests came back okay. She has a slight murmur and we are going to have a follow up with our family doc next week. WARNING for any guys reading... female stuff ahead! She is on her period and might have been dehydrated. I am wondering if this could have been the reason she passed out. She also had not eaten yet but it was only 7am. She did eat before bed. Please pray for her that every thing is okay! Now for the really hard part. The Doc told her to take it easy. How am I supposed to make a 13 yr old take it easy! lol

Re: DD passed out in shower :(
My first thought was that maybe she was starting her period. Sure hope that's what was going on. My daughter had a heart murmur and somehow outgrew it in later years. I would have been terrified also if my child fainted. Sure hope she understands that Mom has reasons for saying things, like don't lock the bathroom door. Haven't a clue how you slow a teenager down. Almost seems like an oxymoron - slow down and teenager in the same sentence Sure hope she is fine and doesn't have a repeat of today

Re: DD passed out in shower :(
my first thought was that her sugar dropped... has she been tested for diabetes?? I know if I go awhile without eating, i feel faint and sometimes, everything will just go black... it sucks...i just try to eat several small meals a day... i am in the process with my dr. in checking the diabetes thing with me. I am glad you were home and able to finally get in there to her hugs,
boys suck. (sometimes )

Re: DD passed out in shower :(
It may be something as simple as having the water too hot. It happened to my next door neighbors daughter three times in one week. She was in the hospital for over a week having all kinds of tests done. Turns out, she likes really hot showers and was simply giving herself heat exhaustion and fainting. Every now and then she forgets and turns the hot water up too high. She starts getting woozy and immediately turns the hot water down and the cold water up. The relief happens instantly.

Same thing happens to me when I get the water too hot. I have to leave the bathroom door open when I take a shower so the steam doesnt build up in there. Otherwise, I feel like I am going to pass out. I just feel plain yucky if I close the door.
I hope everything is ok with the OP's daughter ((((HUGS))))
