    Geico insurance

Has anyone switched to Geico car insurance, and if so have you been happy or not? Any claims filed, customer service, etc. TIA. Lori

We have had Geico for 20 years. They are a great company. We have had several claims, and they pay quickly. They make it easy when you make a claim, usually just one phone call, and they take care of everything.

We have also checked other companies for rates, and none of them are anywhere near as cheap as Geico. (We do have good driving records).

Joyce did they raise your premiums after you filed claims?

Thanks for posting this I myself was curious about Geico...I just love their commercials, especially the squirrel one.

    Re: Geico insurance

No, they didn't raise our premiums on something that wasn't our fault. We had someone break into the car and bust the steering column, and they had it fixed within 3 days. My husband had an accident in a parking lot, and they determined it was 50-50 at fault, so they didn't raise them them. Then my daughter totaled our car, and it wasn't her fault so they didn't raise them.

The only time it went up was when my husband got a speeding ticket for going 79 in a 65. It went up about $300 dollars every six months for 3 years, until the ticket came off his record. Then it went back down. Now we have a 5 year good driver discount. We have a 2000 GMC Sonoma pickup truck, and our insurance runs just under $500 every six months. And we live in North Carolina, which has some of the highest insurance rates.

I have talked to people who did not like Geico, however, I love them. They work with you, pay fast, and the customer service is great.

Wow! I've checked with them a few times for quotes, and they were always
$200 - $300 higher than what I'm paying. I've got a clear driving record, too.

    Might be where you live.....

    Re: Geico insurance

We were with Geico a few years back, but then we switched because we found a MUCH better rate through State Farm. We never had any claims, so I can't say anything about Geico's service. When we had motorcycle insurance through them, it was totally high. I would have thought we'd have gotten a better rate since they were insuring 2 vehicles of ours, but it wasn't the case. That's what made us decide to start shopping around. We've been happy with State Farm and have our home insurance through SF too.

I thought Geico was cheaper also, but just checked and they are way more expensive then what we have now. But I do thank ncmic for her time in posting the info.

Wow, that's really expensive (no offense)... we have farmers ins. full coverage 50/100/50 and we only pay about 800 dollars for the whole year.

BTW, a friend of ours got hit by someone insured by Geico and he is still fighting to get his money... so I guess there's a good and a bad on every corner.

Thanks to all who answered. I'm gonna call today, but I don't know if it will do me any good. Hubby has a habit of getting speeding tickets( ).

STAY AWAY FROM STATE FARM!!! After the horrid experience I had with them I am trying to caution everyone to go somewhere else--I was totally lied to by them, my car was STOLEN by the claims adjustor, I could go on for hours. Especially anyone in MO with State Farm, if Terry Quick is given as your adjustor, RUN!!! The higher ups could not have cared less about the way I was treated and ripped off by this man, shows what their companys opinion of policyholders is. I hate them.

    Re: Geico insurance

we had geico for just one car like 2 years ago, and we paid like 1200 for a 6 month period. (young age also). Then we went to progressive, traded that car in, bought a new car, and a new truck, and now we pay like 1200 for 6 months with 2 vehicles....

We have always had a clean record, nothing is on it. But the young ate throws em off.

So the clean record didnt do anything with geico for us. They are a whole lot higher than anyone else we have found. I just did a quote like a week ago, i did progressive, USAA, and Geico. Lets just say
    USAA- 1236 / 6 months
    GEICO- 1600+ / 6 months
Progressive- Im still waiting for that one. (since we have insurance with them now, they only do renewal quote so many days before renewal), but once i get that one back. I will let you all know.

Also geico makes you put a whole lot of money down for the first policy, no matter if you have had a previous policy with them. Thats another thing i dont like.
