Thread: Keyboard in the dishwasher??

One of my daughters and some of her friends do this. They put it on the top rack, keyboard facing down. No need to go thru a whole cycle. Then it takes a few hours to dry it out. So don't plan on putering for a few hours unless you have a spare I thought they were ready for the funny farm when they told me about this system

Thanks for asking I have been thinking about doing this myself maybe one night before you go to bed and then in the morring it will be ready for action lol

Yes, unless it is wireless or requires batteries for another reason it can be stuck in the dishwasher... but it should be left to dry for at LEAST 12 hours before reuse. It's far better just to take the back off and wipe it all down w/ almost dry paper towels and then drying it throughly... I take mine apart all the time.

Oh, and don't leave it in there to heat dry... only air dry... it probably wouldn't hurt it, but why risk it... air doesn't move around in there very well tho, which is why 12 hours/overnight is best for dry time.

LOL i think i'll stick with the Qtips and alcohol and remove my keys one at a time that way i know for sure it's clean and i can use it as soon as i get done...... i'm still using the original keyboard i got with this computer back in '98 when it was bought new and thats the only way it's ever been cleaned, and it still looks like a new keyboard

im bad... i wait until the keyboards are free after rebates then i throw the dirty one away... as you can tell i hate to clean...

i wonder if i can throw this house away..hummmm?????
