Our new soldier in Iraq wrote to us
My husband and I have a soldier we are writing to and supporting in Iraq. He wrote back and told me about himself. He seems quite young (less than 30, I assume), a college grad, in the reserves, and from Kansas City, MO. He's engaged. He is serving in the heart of a bad area in Iraq.
It is nice to keep these soldiers in our thoughts and prayers.

Re: Our new soldier in Iraq wrote to us
I was writing often to a guy who was deployed... he was writing often and then I didnt hear anything for awhile. When a link to the departed soldiers popped up I was looking through and his name was on there
I felt so horrible, but it was nice to be able to support him in his last days.
Every day I live I am more convinced that the waste of life lies in the love we have not given, the powers we have not used, the selfish prudence that will risk nothing and which, shirking pain, misses happiness as well.

You know, I wonder if that happened to our first soldier. I wrote to him for a few months, sent a package..never heard a thing. It is worrying to think of these beautiful young men and women dying in some far off land.

Re: Our new soldier in Iraq wrote to us
All of our family e-mails with several soldiers in my son's unit. They are so grateful. Actually, we are the ones grateful for doing such a brave and courageous job
