I just have two words about thongs, Kotex belt. LOL I guess I was wearing thongs way before they were turned into panties. Just tell the little girls what they were worn for and they will think it's not too cute of a style. "Your grandma wore those to keep her kotex on honey". And then laugh.
I hated wearing them but had to. I had to adjust them sometimes and at the worse moments. I feel like laughing when I see them peeking out the top of low slung jeans. They look like Kotex belts to me and to anyone over 50. Not sexy at all, just the opposite, tacky.

I think you can find other panties that are cute and aimed at being fashionable for that age. I think it would depend on your daughter though whether those would be appropiate or not.
I remember being in junior high and we used to have to take showers after gym class. Some girls could care less who saw them butt naked but then you had the others like me who went in wrapped in a towel with my shorts still on. We used to just sprinkle water on our shoulders so it looked like we had showered. One of the teachers would be standing at the entrance with a clipboard and check everyone off. I was an extremely modest (or maybe just selfconcious) girl and absolutely hated it.I belive in dragons, unicorns, good men and other mythical creatures.

DD is 17 and the sales girl at Avenue and I talked her into buying her 1st thongs a few months ago. She always thought they would feel nasty. I've been telling her for years that most underwear crawl anyway, and it's a lot more comforable to have a little fabric crawl than 1/2 a pair of granny panties.
At 13, I don't really know where I'd stand on the issue, but even if I wouldn't allow her to wear thongs, I'd definitely let her wear something cuter than granny panties.

imo, a thong is too much for a 13 year old (i am 19 btw). they aren't even in high school yet... jmo. i don't have a daughter, i might think differently if i did... anyway, i what i am trying to say is that i agree with the some of the other poster: some lower cut briefs, or maybe even bikini style underroos, but no booty floss for a girl that young.
