Body found in 55-gallon drum
My hubby was on this job site today. He overheard them say that it looks like the barrel has been there for maybe 5 years. This is terrible, What this world coming to?
Albany police said the body of a dead woman was found by a construction crew at around 10 a.m. on South Pearl Street. The crew was working on a site in that area.
The woman's body was found under two-feet of snow in a 55-gallon drum.
Police said it's obvious the woman's body was there for a while -- but just how long is unclear. Investigators were not able to determine the woman's age or race. Some of her personal possessions like jewelry and clothes were found with her body.
The body was taken to Albany Medical Center for an autopsy.
Det. Jimmy Miller said, "We've got to identify, well, go from the start, see who the individual is, how long it has been in the ground and then get an identification."
Albany police have removed the 55-gallon drum that the woman's body was found in.

This almost sounds like it could be from a Patricia Cornwell book. But it's awful. To think somebody has probably been wondering what happened to her this whole time.

I wonder if this is the same guy from ny who has *sex slaves* and killed them and buried them in barrels. The story aired about 2 years ago ...how sad
A wise man once said - if given enough rope, one will eventually hang themself

Such a shame I feel bad for her family and friends.
The more you complain, the longer God makes you live.

update
Det. James Miller of the Albany Police Department said, "Right now it appears to be a female that was put inside a 55-gallon drum that was discovered during an excavation site about two feet down in the ground."
Police said that the decomposed body has obviously been buried on South Pearl Street for some time, but they aren't sure exactly how long. They don't know her race or how old she was the time she died.
Miller said, "We got to identify. Well, go from the start, see who the individual is, how long it's been in the ground and then get an identification."
This gruesome discovery raises questions about unsolved crimes in the area. There are at least two prominent open missing persons cases in Albany involving SUNY students Suzanne Lyall and Karen Wilson. Wilson went missing in 1985 after visiting a tanning salon on Central Avenue and Lyall was last seen on UAlbany's campus in March of 1998.
"Obviously we have several significant high profile two college students from SUNY that are missing, but it is way too early to say if there's connection between the body found and those two students," Miller explained.
But even without her identification, the fact that a body was found next to the homes on South Pearl Street is making residents very nervous
