Well, I live in Virginia Beach and there does seem to be alot to do. There's the beach & lots of shops along the boardwalk, different museums (Marine Science, Children's Museum, etc), historical stuff (that I haven't been to yet), and I'm sure there's more since lots of people vacation here. Plus, Busch Gardens is about 45 mins. away in Williamsburg, where I've heard there is also a nice outlet mall. Nags Head, NC is pretty cool, too. Only time I've lived or been on the east coast, so those are the only areas I know. Tho have heard that Ocean City, MD is fun also.

Cocoa Beach Florida is really nice .. there is a beach about 30 miles or so south called Sebastian Inlet that is BEAUTIFUL!
I did go to Virginia Beach last summer too and it was OK. To me it was kind of confusing driving around, and we didn't have the best weather, but I do want to go back. Virginia Beach can get expensive in the summer though cause it is their tourist season! Better to go before the end of May when their hotel prices are lower.
Niagra Falls is awesome too .. I LOVE it there .. it is about a 3 - 4 hour drive from my house. Very touristy in the summer though. And everything is jacked up as far as hotel prices and such in the summer
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them. Distance and time may separate us but friendship and memories won't.

When we were kids (a long time ago) we went to the Pennsylvania grand canyon. It is really pretty there, a waterfall at the bottom. Don't know if hiking is your thing though.Pictures

We went to Cape Cod last year and loved it! We have friends there that we stayed with (that was a big plus!), but there is a lot to do there or within driving distance. We drove to Maine one day and had dinner there - lobster, of course - just to say we had been there! LOL. We also went to Plymouth, Boston, and Martha's Vineyard. One day we took a whale watching tour (which our daughter loved), and we also saw lots of lighthouses. Oh and we flew into New Jersey so we also saw Times Square and the Statue of Liberty (2 yo DD called it stashew dewivery, LOL).

Davesbabydoll, if you want somewhere BEAUTIFUL and relaxing in Maine, try the Acadia National Park area--one of the most beautiful places in the world. Another great vacationspot is the Moosehead Lake region. At either place you're not going to find a whole lot of "night life," but I don't know what kind of vacation you're looking for. That's why I recommended Laconia, NH because we used to stay in quiet little cottages there then go into town for fun stuff to do. And yes, there are a lot of bikers there and for the most part, they're all really cool and great people to chat with.

Thanks in advance!
I posted about our trip to Virginia Beach in the post looking for kidfriendly vacation spots! It was great!
found my other post:
The last and I might say only time we have been on an actual vacation was a few years ago we went to Virginia Beach. And we didnt spend all our time at the beach.. actually spent very little time there. We took the kiddies to King's Dominion which was less than an hour away from there... Im thinkin Richmond,VA but dont quote me on that. Its a nice theme park with a Nickelodeon section for the little ones. We took a tour of the Naval base there and got to go on all the big naval ships, see how they are ran, how they live on the ships when they are out to sea, etc. It was quite interesting. There were quite a few places you could tour down there. Their national parks are beautiful. There are also alot of nice places to shop, etc while you are there. We really enjoyed ourselves and were lucky enough we stayed with DH's brother's family for the entire 7 days so didnt have to pay for a hotel! Let us know what you do finally decide on.

Come on Spring!!
There is Charleston, SC. I went there with a friend of mine and had a blast. Just sittin by the beach hanging out!!! But if you would like to take a west coast trip, I would recommend San Diego!!! I lived there for over 4 years, due to the Navy, and would LOVE to go back if I got the right job. There were so many things to do there, the zoo, wild animal park, balboa park (most of the museums are free), the beaches, and you are about an hour and a half from Disneyland, LegoLand, Knotts Berry Farms, and Magic Mountain Six Flags. And I almost forgot to mention the Mexican food there is to die for!!! Plus there are a lot of malls everywhere!!!!!! It also doesn't rain that often at all!! Lots of fun in the sun for sure!!!!!

Let us start the journey with one of the most romantic places on the earth, Virginia Beaches. These are the beaches which will never allow your senses to stay virgin as you will definitely set up your date with natural beauties and scenic sceneries. The deadly recreations with the deep sea will thrash the thrills in AquaMan Sportfishing Charters. Also the Park system will pull out the sports person out of you as many of the games are waiting your nod.
Don’t dare to forget to visit the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Sciences Center which will increase your love with the Marine-life and will guide your eyes to the most smashing IMAX movie planet with 300 seats capacity. The lifestyle of Harbor seals, turtles, horned Owls and many of the sea assets will be exhibited by the Forty feet tunnel which goes under water and allow you to have the lifelong experience of Sea-life live.
