I think you have more of a chance of choking on the hotdog than getting "Mad Cow" disease...
Why not learn to enjoy the little things - there are so many of them.

How old are they? LOL just kidding....I wonder if there is enough beef in hotdogs to qualify as beef? But I do remember a few years back about hotdogs making people sick...hmmm....wish you luck finding out...

I surely wouldn't worry about "mad cow" disease here yet. I have a freezer full of beef and other things. This is ONE cow out of a Canadian herd. I think they caught it in time. If you are worried, eat pork or chicken or just veggies. We need not panic every time we hear stuff on the news.

It's not one cow anymore... read Jolies post in the mad cow thread... they've found it in 8 states and Guam... but to reiterate what I said in that thread... my grandfather said they are finding it in Holstein cows, which are milk cows, and we don't eat milk cows according to him... I figure since he owns a cattle ranch (and owns more than 1000 Holstein cows) that he knows what he's talkin about... so you're pretty good to eat whatever you want.

Sorry sometimes I can't help myself...I for sure didn't mean to offend you or hurt your feelings and to be 100% fair I would be afraid to clean out our freezer.

Hebrew National hot dogs are kosure so they are made to strict guidelines. They should be fine. Besides if they are at least 6 months old they are much too old to have been made from the beef from that one cow.

Also I just read that the beef in all eight states came from the same cow, just one, and it WAS a holstein. Never knew that milk cows were slaughtered for meat, but I guess I've learned something new today. LOL.

editted to add: six months is not too old for hot dogs. They are so processed I'm not sure if they EVER go bad when frozen. After a year they may lose some of their flavor, but would still be okay to eat.
