Not at all small with the bunns. The thermal carafe is real thick looks to be made out of stainless steel inside. It is the same size as a normal coffee pot, but the opening is as wide as the coffee pot is round. The whole top screws off and it's a thick lid with a tiny hole on top and rubber type hole on top that seals off if I'm not mistaking. I've only taken them out of the box if they were already open so I could test them to be sure they worked. And from what I seen they appear to be thick enough to keep coffee hot for a long time. But I didn't think to check to see how long they stay hot in the pot. But I bet it's a good while from the looks of it.
