    Diaper bag help...

Ok I know coming from a mommy of 3, soon to be 4 this is a dumb question, but what goes in a diaper bag?

My husband and I have started keeping his 5 week old son some and I don't want to use his mothers diaper bag and carseat and stuff. Until we get the paternity test completed (August 20th) and the results back (however long that takes) he's not paying any child support, so I've got diapers, wipes, clothes, formula and bottles to use at our house, but I need to know what to keep in his diaper bag.

I know diapers, wipes, a onsie, a change of clothes, a burpcloth and bottles, but what else. He's surely not big enough to need a bib yet, and I can't think of anything else.

Oh yea you need a bib, the formula may ruin his clothes. A thin blanket, diaper rash ointment and powder, anything else that the baby needs!! (meds etc.) It also really depends on where you are going if it is a short trip you take less a long trip you take more. But I think you have it pretty well. LOL Good luck with the paternity test for however you want it to turn out.

Hmmm, I have a 7month old little girl and I carry everything but the kitchen sink.

Diapers, wipes, clean clothes, socks, a hair brush, formula, bottle liners, bottle, baby lotion, diaper ointment, pabby (my daught doesn't use one) toys, a bib, burb cloth and a blanket.

What you have sounds good. I just like to be extra prepared (you never know)
I love work. I could stare at it all day.

so are you having a baby too or when you say soon to be 4 are you talking about this baby? your life sounds very interesting!

Yep I'm due Septemmber 28th with a baby boy and the baby boy I'm trying to get the bag fixed for was born June 28th.

Thank you all for helping me figure out what I still need for the diaper bag. It's one of those things I can't bring myself to ask my doctor because it's just too silly. I love having this forum to come to for things like that!

And for those who read my v/w post a while back, you can see that hubby is doing the right thing and is a part of the baby's life, paternity test is scheduled, and we're getting to keep the baby some. The baby's mommy won't leave him overnight yet, but it's understandable. I didn't leave mine for a long time after they were born.

lol...I usually stick a shirt in for myself because it never fails.......my little girl will spit up and it will get all over me! I gotta say too, good for you, I don't know how I would take the situation that you are in. well actually I do know how I would take it and let's just say that you are taking it alot better than i would. That little boy is lucky to have you in his life.

i keep my nephew and i just forced myself to dump a lot of his stuff from the bag...was at least 20 lbs..lol

i keep: diapers, wipes, 2 recieving blankets, 2 bibs, burp cloths (extra blanket can be used in a pinch), 2 extra outfits (never know when they will spit up/potty on it..lol..esp with a boy), formula, bottles, water, toys (rattles), socks, changin pad, diaper rash ointment, baby tylenol, tylenol for me,

i also keep a little bottle of that gel u use as soap without water in case i have to change a diaper away from a sink or just have no place to stick the baby to wash hands safely

i also keep a recieving blanket next to the car seat so when we go into the house/store i can set it over the buckles so they aren't hot when we get back to the car...

Well, I was NOT taking it well at all. The mother didn't call and let us know he was born, I found the birth announcement for him, which severely upset me that she'd used my husband's name! I knew that the mother was pregnant and hubby was a possibile father for many many months, almost her entire pregnancy, but then to know he was born and I couldn't ignore it anymore was very hard. I am now thankful that I found the announcement because it gave me almost a month before she called to learn to deal with it and plenty of time for hubby and I to talk about what steps to take next. And I must say that having him here with us makes it easier rather than harder, which is what I expected for it to be. I am also lucky that I had a day care before and mine and hubby's children just assume that the new baby is one I'm babysitting, so that we don't have to explain anything to them yet, and they've got time to adjust.

LOL and now I'm able to smile and greet the mother, making it seem like I want to be doing what I am, which of course is driving her nuts!

Thank you guys SOOOOOOOOO much for the ideas! Seems like forever since my little one's had to have a diaper bag.
