Wow. I don't know. You'd think at least the school nurse would clean him up...

I don't know what to tell you. I hope you at least let them know what you thought about it when you picked your son up!

We have a "Family Resource Center" at our schools. If a child has an accident of any kind and messes up their clothing(even if its just spilling their milk on them), they get sent to the Family Resource lady and she gives them clean clothes to put on while she washes and dries their clothes. Then they can change back before they leave school or wear the borrowed clothes home and bring them back the next day.

i dont know if that is neglect either. the only advice i have is to send an extra pair of pants to school with your son for him to keep in his bookbag in case it happens again. i know at my cousins school the school has extra pants there that people have donated in case something like that happens.

How old is your child ?

I know it sounds mean, but the policy is in place in most places to protect both the child & the teacher. Wouldn't you be worried if you got there to find your son talking about how the teacher wiped his "%$#" and handled his "xyz".... They also have concerns about "body fluids" - it cracked me up that the hospital was so supportive of Michael getting breatmilk when he was in NICU, but I was required to transport in individual baggies *and* a cooler both marked "BIOHAZARD".

That happened to my neighbors son. It took her awhile to get to the school - like nearly an hour. Mike was still "messy" and only 6 yrs. old. Mom went all the way to the principal. The teacher was reprimanded and the school policy changed. They now have the kids bring and extra set of undies or more depending on the child at the beginning of school. This policy is for 3rd grade and under at this time. But it's a start.

i agree...if it were a toddler i would expect him to be cleaned up...but an older kid...i don't know if i'd want some of the teachers they have now days to touch him...

Tell her that is a VERY good idea ... when I *briefly* went back to work after #1, I was pumping at work and putting it in a cooler in the warehouse --- and someone kept stealing it. There is no polite way to say it -- it was stored in BABY BOTTLES in a sealed ziploc bags with my name on it in a locked office (every employee had a key, but not accessable to customers or general public). How weird/gross/sick is that ?? This went on for weeks and was a small part of the reasons I quit to be a full-time wife & mother.

    OH YEAH, ID BE PI$$ED!!!!!

When my oldest went to PreSchool, they told me some kids wear diapers up till kindergarten AND they are required to clean them up if they have an "accident" while at school, even if they are in regular clothes.

Sounds like to me someone should have taken care of the child, don't know the rules in your school for such things but if they are taking 31/2 year olds they should have realized kids that age will sometimes have accidents and been prepared. I do know that my own son begged to go to the bathroom in 1st grade but the teacher said it wasn't time and though he kept pleading and telling her it was urgent she still refused, when he came home he had a strong odor on him from where he had had an accident and had cleaned himself up as best he could when she had finally allowed him to go to the bathroom during her allotted times that she allowed the kids to go to the bathroom, apparently all the children were supposed to only have to relieve themselves during her so called bathroom breaks for them. My husband went to the school and talked to her and the principle about it she was not too apoligetic about it at all just kept repeating to my husband and the principle about how the kids had bathroom breaks, my husband finally told her that my son had better never come home like that again if he asks to go to the bathroom even if its not during her so called break time he had better be allowed to go and if he ever came home like that again he would not be going to the principle about it he would find her tie her butt to a chair until she had defecated and then she could wear it for awhile and see how she liked it. (He meant it he would have done it, I'm surprised he didn't get locked up)My son never had any problems again. Have you talked to the school officials about their policies for this type of crisis and how upset you were for your child being treated this way, and why they did not handle this situation better. I'm not advising to threaten anyone like my husband did, but I'm sure your child was upset by this treatment and they should take steps to make sure the children are better taken care of in the future.
